Good afternoon,

I recently had the transmission in my 2002 6.0L Escalade go out. I found a 4L65 tranny from a 2004 Escalade that I've since received conflicting information on, on whether or not it would work with my 2002 as a direct swap plus programming. If I were to order a transmission from GM directly, it would be part #24225965. The part number for a 2004 Escalade transmission is #12491897. The tag on the 2004 tranny that I purchased is 3KZD. I know nothing of transmissions and am not a mechanic. I get told by one person I can make it work and get told by others, that it can't. Figured a GM/Chevy Forum would be the place to ask. Is there anyone, like @NickTransmissions that can maybe help me out, confirm whether I can use this tranny or not, or what I would need to do to make it work. Please and thank you in advance.

It’s a direct swap, no programming or adaptive resets required. You don’t need to program any 4L60E transmission to any vehicle that already came with one. You just have to get the vintages and their respective TC/input shaft/flex plate configurations correct as well as the 3C (command, communication and control) stuff.

In your case, any 4L65E will be a direct bolt in deal and work as long as the replacement trans is healthy.

Anyone telling you otherwise is clueless.
