Had the vehicle rust projected and they said they don’t spray the frame do to a wax like coating. Anyone know about this? Was charged full price for half the work!

My understanding is that aftermarket rust proofing will void the OEM rust perforation and corrosion warranty. The wax like coating on the frame is part of the rust proofing and anti-corrosion countermeasure from GM.

Would you leave it or coat over it any ways?

Serious question as I never own a vehicle with more than 70k miles on it...is rusting through frames really still a thing?

Get your money back, you will probably sell the rig before you see rust on those new tahoes, most of the panels are made out of aluminum.

It has been a problem with some vehicles, where manufacturers have been required to replace the frames under a recall and class action suit settlement. This was a big issue for Toyota trucks.

Not sure about your weather and dirt/salt/road chemicals conditions in US/CA, but here in Russia we usually consider manufacturer "coating" as a transporting grease only.

So Krown, RustStop, Dinitrol and so on is almost a must.

I'll probably spray mine with Fluid Film. I use that stuff on the bottom of my RV, snowblower, etc. Lots of videos on YouTube showing it being used.

there are other benefits to the under coating. Sound deadening and a warranty depending on the installer
