To me the Tahoe’s with the stationary running board look better and more aggressive. I prefer the styling of it over the retractable ones. I don’t really care about clearance or any of that. Strictly highway driven. How big a job is it to remove the retractable steps and put in OEM stationary ones? Cost?

OEM non power boards are simple to swap out. Sad thing is they’re still pricey as hell. You’ll be better off taking your power boards off, selling them locally (they’ll cost a ton to ship) and buy a set of stationary boards. I’m sure guys on here would trade no problem

I am not familiar with the retractable boards but would it look better to disable the retract and make them stay out permanently? Just a thought.

Agree with Tahoe14^ I wouldn’t leave the retractable steps just down all the time.

The OEM retractable side steps (and aftermarket AMP steps) come down a bit more and a bit further out from the vehicle when activated. Because of this I find the retractable steps to be more functional and easier to step on than the stock stationary side steps.

Where are you located? I can swap them out?

How hard would it be to add OEM retractable steps? I know the factory ones have an option to open them manually through the head unit, not sure how going after the fact, will it be programmed.

You actually can control them with this switch (bottom left just above the adjustable pedal button).

I believe it can be done. I’ve complete all the wiring. I’m looking for a good set of power assist steps now. There’s 3 circuits that come from the x185 body to chassis harness connector along with a power circuit from the under hood fuse block. The other wires connect between the module and the two steps. For the trucks, the module doesn’t have to be programmed. I’m thinking the suvs don’t either.

I have an Escalade, I didn't see a button for the steps (when I was in a Premium model loaner), it has an option in the CUE system though.
