Alright good news!! ECT sensor was replaced. However what should have been a 10 minute job turned into a whole ordeal. The original sensor was cracked at the threads and when I went to remove it, broke off. The probe and half the threads were stuck in the engine block. Had to use an easy out to back it out. Also the electrical connector broke off inside the original sensor.

Thankfully it all came together. She runs quieter and the AC runs colder. We’ll see how things work out the next few weeks.
Hi, dumb question, what is an ECT sensor and where is it located? Our 2007 6.2 does tend to have the temperature creep up right before it starts misbehaving. Normally it’s right around 200 or 210 but after a couple of hours of highway driving, just before it starts misbehaving it goes up to 215 or maybe 220. Not crazy high but definitely higher than normal.

ECT = Engine Coolant Temperature sensor

Not sure if this video is for the same model as yours, but check it and see

Also make sure the fans work, at least with my 2005 if you turn the AC on the fans come on automatically.

Nice, thanks! The fans do run sometimes but I’ve never really paid attention to exactly when. I’ll check that they come on w/AC.

Later model (2014) in this video but the engine is very similar. Thanks!
