Got nothing done on the Tahoe this weekend but, have found myself in an odd predicament. Towed an avalanche and an accord today with my buddies denali and discoveredthe tires on my trailer are not in good health. Not only does one have a big screw but 2 seem to be separating causing a bulge and all 4 are very dry rotted. I have dreams of putting a load C or better, preferably load E light AT tire or HT tire on the PPV wheels but I'm struggling to find anything this small for 17"s. Undoubtedly the Avalanche+2,500lb trailer was a little much for these firestone's rated at 1,760lbs max. Which is likely the cause of the separation starting so I dont want another set of basically passenger car tires, nor do I want to find a set of 15"-16"wheels because I love these on it.
Anybody have any suggestions on what tires to run? Currently running a 225/65/17 anddont really want to go more than an inch taller or wider but could consider slightly smaller.
I'll also take suggestions on good looking 16" OEM wheels. Pretty sure that's an oxymoron.

I looked at eTrailer and they have some Kenda Loadstars in one size narrower, LR C:
I had smaller bias-ply Loadstars on my (larger) popup camper and had upgraded to LR D, they were good. Not sure how these would fare, though.

Edit: Its out of stock on there but they made it at one time. Maybe you can find a set elsewhere. I know they are a 215 instead of 225, but slightly smaller was in cards...lol

Why they gotta be so expensive! I'm trying to stay under $500 just because they will never run out of tread they will always get dry and need replacing.
I would but then I'd have to pimp juice them every time I hauled.
I can't seem to find them anywhere, I think they are discontinued. Plus those are Marine haulers I was USAF not USMC.
I'm leaning toward these right now, they are under $500 with the Discount tire replacement plan and roadside warranty. The only downside is I have to bring the wheels and tires to them they will not touch car tires on a trailer, must be load E or trailer dedicated tires which would require going up to a minimum of a 31" tall tire.
The good is they are rated for 2,400lbs each which is 700lbs more than the current firestones and, they are XL not SL which means I can run more tire pressure.

Total change of plans, its getting a set of 265/70/17 load E Duratracs off my buddies Denali and he's getting a new set of OEM 20s and 33"s.
They are old and worn but they are tough, free, and should fit with minor fender adjustment. Plus if these fit it opens options up massively for used truck tires.

They remind me of your PPV wheels with the duratracs, looks tougher than a .29 cent steak.
Luckily they are easily removable and could use a mild redesign anyway. I'm just happy to have tires rated for 12k total load on it, those duratracs are known to have an amazingly tough sidewall for rock crawling and whatnot so it ought to handle highway and the occasional sandy trail. Plus taller means fewer wheel bearing rotations which may keep them alive longer.

Maybe I can 14bolt swap the trailer and run an additional drive shaft out to it for burn outs

So I bought a 2011 Mountaineer premier that needs a few things before I sell it and it has a set of 255/50/20 Michelin Defender LTX tires that are just a few months old on it, the PO said he just bought them in May. They are about 1" shorter and 1" narrower than my current Nittos. I'd love to try out a set of nice economy/highway tires instead of the wide kinda sticky Nittos but I'm worried the size difference will make them look stupid.
What do you guys think?

Current is 285/50/20, yeah that looks pretty good although that truck is dropped more than mine. I'll probably do it just because the Nittos are getting old and a little noisier plus, it's hard to pass up $1k in top-quality tires.

I'll probably get michelins next time for the Yukon. The Bridgestone Alenza plus aren't quite what I expected, but I'm not swapping until they are worn out.

Here they are on the Mountaineer, the wheels on the mountaineer are some of the best wheels I've seen on a stock ford product. Just worried they will look stretched on my 8.5" wide wheels, the mountaineer is on 8.0s
