The Tahoe has been in the shop for a few days getting new mods and I thought I'd share my experience with the forum in case anyone else is thinking about adding blow to their hoe.

Magnacharger TVS1900 (underdrive pulley to run 10 psi)
Upgraded magnacharger tensioner with Kevlar belt (to reduce/eliminate slip)
90mm tensioner pulley
Pinned flywheel
Tranny cooler with hydraulic lines
Vette servo with Sonnax billet 4th
90 mm ported/polished throttle body
160 thermostat
Air/fuel mix gauge
Boost gauge
A pillar pod for both gauges
Pacesetter coated long tube headers
Pacesetter Y pipe (no cats)
Magnaflow muffler
Vibrant ultra quiet resonator
SLP dual tips (stock resonator delete)
HP tune

These are all the pics I have for now. Couple of the tranny cooler and inter cooler install. Will post more pics and dyno numbers in the next week or two. Hoping to get around 400-450 HP at the rear wheels. Maybe a cam, spring, lifters and rods if this won't be enough to get me there. Oh, and a new tranny soon too. Not sure how long the 4L60E will hold under this set up.

Many thanks to SuperchargedSS for his advice on this build. Enjoy....

Glad you got it Eugene! You're going to LOVE this thing!

And yes, at 10psi, your transmission is on borrowed time. If it was a more modest 5-6psi, it would last a little longer. I personally wouldn't go higher than 10psi on an internally stock 5.3, but that is just me. Some will beg to differ.

If you get a cam, look for a stock cam from an LS6. 04-06 Z06 cam. Probably the best cam for that motor with forced induction without going overboard.

:D

Much loping in that cam in a 5.3? It's my daily driver so can't be rolling around with an obnoxious choppy idle. Though I love the sound,
the wife wouldn't like it. Gotta keep her happy ya know!

I know you're right about the tranny and probably will need a new rear end too. I'll just start saving for that now since its only a matter of time. Think I should build the 4l60e or swap to a built 4l80e? Leaning toward the latter and maybe 4.10, but read not too noticeable difference between 4.10 and stock 3.73s.

I agree with you on the boost. My research and tuner both state that 10 psi is probably max for a safe, reliable daily driver with stock internals. Im told there's also the issue of traction. Tuner says I'd probably just roast tires at 13 psi anyway.

Not really any lope at all.

Save your money and keep your 3.73. I hated my 4.10s. Just get a tru-trac and call it a day.

I'd say get a 4L80, but I think you'll be fine with a heavily built 4L60. Unless you plan on beating this thing hard and racing it, I dunno.

I bet you will be very happy with the results! What size pulley are you running on it? I would recommend looking into a Trans Go II shift kit (at the minimum) for your transmission.

Have a 2.8 but I will start with a 3.2....should be about 9lbs?

I'll look into the trans kit. Still unsure about what to do there.

Another pic with blower on. Sorry for poor quality. Camera phone.

You will probably be pretty close to 10psi. I would not run a 2.8" pulley though, it would be too much for your engine.

Point taken. Should be relatively mean with this set up! Hopefully this is enough to satisfy my inner child.

You're gonna love boost I'm about 9 psi on my blown/cam/p&p/ tahoe, my advice is to start saving on a transmission, mine only lasted about 3 months at 7 psi. After 2 rebuilt trans, I finally bit the bullet and did the 4L80e swap, now my build 4L80 is rated at 1000 HP. So far it's been holding for 8 months now. You gotta remember are suv's are heavy. Start also saving on a rear end lol. It never ends

Ha. Pretty much why I haven't turbocharged my Tahoe yet. After working as a tech for 10 years next to a transmission tech(GM)...I am afraid of the 4l60's lol. They just don't like torque. I now have a 4l80 to install...then gonna end up building turbo setup. Just trying to figure out turbo sizing now...this is just a highway truck(Z71 tahoe) or a tow vehicle for my car. Thats it. Getting closer to trans install, then will iron out turbo.
