I just inherited my father's 05 Yukon and I'm putting a three to three and a half inch lift on it and I need longer or better CV axles and angles I've read on other posts that 07 CV axles are longer and they will fit 2000 to 2005 Tahoe/Yukon for better angles and they're about a 1-1¹/⁴ longer. Has anyone done this or heard about it also? Or should I get 1in CV axles spacers. I will also be going with lifted upper control arms also.

I have a 6.5" lift which uses spacers and a diff drop. Use the spacers. On the pickups, a 4 inch lift is better than 3".

The longer cv axles from the 07+ will give you better cv angles than using a cv spacer will.

So they are the same spline #'s and all. I'll order mine this weekend.

Cv spacers are garbage. Use the 07 axles and don’t look back

Seadevil...did you buy the 07 axles? how has it gone? I just ordered a set for my 2004....expected delivery tomorrow. I ordered the extended travel option from NAPA so that i'd have a little more droop travel given I have aftermarket Upper control arms.

Couldn't be more happier with the 07+ cv axles. Fit right in and with my after market upper A arms I'm sitting at a 4in lift without any issues. I'm a mechanic but didn't know the new CV axles are the same just longer and with all the knowledge here on this sight, it really helped me out. Go for it

I just installed 2008 Tahoe axles to my lifted 2004. They fit no problem. I was able to delete the 2” CV spacer.

6” Rough Country lift.

And I used the Extended travel CV axles from NAPA to give me a more flexibility. The 2008 axles are 1/2” shorter than the total length of the factory 2004 axles + the 2” CV spacer from Rough Country. So if you use the ‘08 axles and go to full droop (especially with aftermarket UCAs) you may pull the conventional CV axles apart and cause a failure. Better to add the extended travel CV axles to cover the missing 1/2” and give you another inch or so of travel before failure. Of course this is if you use the truck off road…if it’s just for the look you should be fine without the extended travel.

They are pricey but worth I think.

addendum -
FYI for everyone interested in the Extended travel CV axle...if you look on the warranty sheet on NAPA's website you will find a phone number...google that number and you will see the manufacturer of the axle is Trakmotive...the Trakmotive axle on Rockauto for the 2008 Tahoe sells for $131...the one on NAPA sells for $330 ea...double the cost!!! I caught the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale for mine but I still paid $250 ea.

I hope you can learn from my mistake. Best of luck to us all.

Carolina.... Thanks for the info. I've pulled the trigger and ordered the 6" RC lift kit and 35's on 20R. Was planning on new CV axles during the build. Now ordering these 08 Trakmotive axles for $131 ea. Thanks for the tips!!

I was thinking about this every time you mentioned NAPA ext travel in this thread and the one you posted the video on.....It's kinda sad but I don't even consider the local parts stores anymore unless it's an emergency....smh

Same here. I get a company discount that knocks a hefty amount off the prices. But, it is ridiculous anymore.
2006 Silverado radiator at local oreilly 284 bucks
With company discount 184
Rockauto.com shipped to my door 117.

Wow... Nice discount, but Wow...

Whenever possible I use Summit... They'll match any legitimate price + shipping cost(if applicable) and they consistently ship to my location faster than any other business Ive ever used. Helps that i'm only 3hrs from their headquarters, but I've made orders as late as 530 and had them arrive pre-noon the following day
