Unscrewed my antenna so I could go through the carwash, but it ended up unscrewing the middle part of the base!
I think I can screw it back in.. but I'm epoxying the tab that broke on the cowl piece first..

Also a small piece of hood paint flaked off starting from a rock chip..

Anyone go through a flap-roller carwash with the solid antenna? This burb is too big to wash by hand...

I go through the flap-roller wash most of the time. Not real often, but it's rare that I wash the Hoe at home. Stock antenna. The wash moves the mirrors around a little but they're made for that.

Screwed the antenna back in, thanks for the replies. Will replace with a stubby if it ever gets ripped off at the carwash!

Today I changed the oil, touched up the rust protection on my car, diagnosed the faulty LPG system level indicator and ordered a new one, ordered new keys and a remote key fob, put on summer tires, and reprogrammed the tire pressure sensors.

Then I wanted to replace the transmission switch and discovered it was the wrong one.

So I have to order a new one...

Fixed my two broken exhaust manifold bolts. Front and rear bolt on the drivers side were broke flush. Pulled the manifold and welded nuts to them. Front one i got first try. Rear one was stuck pretty good and fought me a while.

Installed arp stainless bolts on both sides, new gm gaskets, new plug and wires.

Good to know there is space to reach that back one.. I'm going to have to do mine someday..
Same bolts broken on driver side, plus a middle one on passenger side.

Its doable for sure, just takes time. In hindsight I should have pulled the steering shaft, that would have let me get the manifold all the way out. I was being lazy and just rotated the manifold about 45* to clear the front and rear holes. The extra room would have helped a lot I think.

Neat! Though I think the windshield antennas don't work as well as the normal kind..

Now I'm curious how the stock antenna will act next time I go through the carwash..

Received my TYC headlamp and turn signal housings. Headlamps came with Osram bulbs, old bulbs were sylvania.
Waiting for Napa Auto to open tomorrow for turn bulbs, because I sure as shit don't want sylvania that autozone and oreillys carry.
Old vs new.

Turn housings had water and condensation. Passenger side sockets immersed and soaking wet.
They had moisture in them before I went to the carwash a few days ago.. And it hadn't rained for awhile..

I love how easy it is to remove the light housings! GM still had someone who cared back then..
Also the new housings have a cylindrical bulb shade inside that the originals did not.. That would be good for??? HID or LED bulbs?

Make sure you use a thin bead of silicone around the edge where the inner and outer edges meet, along with some dielectric grease on the gaskets for the bulbs. Doing this will totally eliminate any gasket failure which would let moisture inside the lenses.

The bulb gaskets still seem fine, so I am guessing the old ones leaked around the seam..
(old seam looks dry and crusty)

Good idea on the housings, but I'm still installing them dry..
I'm lazy, but it's also a principle thing... I shouldn't have to seal new headlights!
If they leak within 15 years, I'll be disappointed..

I'm more worried about the electrical contacts and wiring in the socket since they were immersed..
Looking a little corroded, but not completely...

The best part is how easy the housings are to remove.
So if there's any problem, it's no big deal to remove them and fix it.
