So I had a soft/mooshy shift from 1st to 2nd that turned into a hesitation in shifting from 1-2 sporadically --after driving for a while. Not reving up like a clutch was slipping --just like it was trying to catch its breath. I replaced the OEM servo with a Corvette style servo. While under there dropped the pan and did the 5 solenoids and upgraded the accumulator (Sonex Pinless kit). Also replaced the filter. Very nice crisp shift now. True source of the problem was the accumulator...it was letting fluid past. Figured do it all while there.

I thought there were only 4 solenoids.

i have installed a TON of the pinless 1-2 accumulators over the years. i have seen a lot of cracked plastic pistons and hell in my personal TBSS, the pin was worn letting fluid leak past the piston causing a lazy 1-2 shift.

I really like the corvette servo combo, pinless 1-2 accumulator pin and then some trans tuning. Really helps these trucks a LOT.

Tested KOspeed tow mirrors. I bought them from ebay, but they shipped from amazon. Only $75 shipped.

Looked promising, has metal base. Was packaged well and advertised for '03-'06.

But the fit...

Not something I can live with, so I will be returning them.

I thought the washer fix was for the hinge mount to fix the mirror angle?

I dunno, it just didn't fit into place right, and the foam looked cheap poking out around the mirror unevenly, plus the huge gap.
I would rather try another set if I thought they would fit right...
Would even consider the basic boost auto ones at $340, but I really don't like how their logo is embossed on there..

Think I'll just get new mirror glass for now, and focus on the clunk in my suspension & drivetrain next..

At least there's been no new codes for a week or two now..

Got tired of looking at the clear coat peel, so pulled the trigger and got the whole truck painted. Turned out good. Finished putting the roof rack and badges back on. Also, swapped out oil sender unit that I’m pretty sure was cause of a slow oil leak.

Nice paint! About how much does a job like that run? (If you don't mind telling)

Yesterday, my liftglass popped off the hinges again because I didn't want to install harbor freight eclips that didn't fit so great.
That was a mistake, when the glass popped up, the hinge scratched my roof again!
Found a couple more spots I need to paint anyway, just to keep it the white paint from flaking more...

Think I found out why these tow mirrors weren't fitting properly..
There is no channel for the wire to pass through under the mounting base.. So I think I had the wire pinched, causing a gap at the top.
IMG_1309.jpeg

From what I can tell, I would need to grind a channel for the wire in the base.. I didn't tighten it fully, so I think the wire should be intact..
Still hoping to return them because of the cheap foam and a bent stud..
IMG_1311.jpeg

But they only cost what two decent glass mirror replacements cost...
So maybe for the $75 I should just test them out.. Concerned about other potential issues I've read about cheap mirrors..
(angled funny, distorted glass, vibrating glass, folding at speed, not to mention the bent stud...) Or, they might be perfectly fine.

If it was me I'd install them and just run them. See how you like them. You'll never know if you don't try them out. Who knows, you might like them.

Paint was $2500 total for a mid level Maaco paint job. I know Maaco sometimes gets some bad reviews, but this local Maaco seems to do a really good job. Had an old Jeep XJ painted 2 years ago and still looks fantastic.

So, now that I have new paint, they suggest 90 days before any waxing. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on a wax or coatings to protect the paint after the 90 days?

I always have the same answer…… With a fresh coat of paint, it is important to allow the pores to absorb a real quality substance.
Real 100% Carnauba Paste Wax. After that, you can use anything you want. Even the latest ‘chemical’ polishes.
