I posted this issue on HPT but haven't had any replies yet, but it's still early. Some history so bear with me, I bought this used with about 80K and was very well cared for, Carfax had the trans service done at 50K and I did a 75% fluid change at 100K but no filter change. No issues driving it and all shifts are good, I stretched the last change to 70K (173K) due to just being so caught up in family issues with my mom....but no drivability issues. I did start to notice a very slight change in shifts around 160K and every gear change was positive, but just slightly softer or a touch slower, tach needle didn't have that quick drop but still had no flare or slipping but just slightly slower to drop in RPM. Mind you this is just me being hyper-focused on it, it was a positive shift but the smallest difference is what I am touching on.

Fluid was dark but not burnt, darker than I wanted it to be but that's on me...still smelled like trans fluid and had a very slight red tint. Pan had no debris, no trails of sliver slime and only some slime on the magnet.

I did notice some odd shifting after the fluid change, right away the 1-2 was delayed a tiny bit, then the 2-3 had a very quick flare after a few miles, then those seem to get better. I looked at the Tech 2 and my 1-2 was around .45 sec and the rest were around .25 sec give or take and that seems normal...but doesn't feel quick and positive. After that, I did also reset the adaptives at that time so I'm about 150 miles into that.

The next day when cold, the 3-4 had a quick flare but not like it was slipping, just a delayed shift. Once warmed up, it seems to drive fine but with a few soft shifts at 2-3 and 3-4. The following day the cold 3-4 was better, no flare but a momentary pause before the RPM needle dropped. It seems each day is getting better but I would like to know what I can start changing or should I wait?

I can get a driving log just need to know what to set as a PID. The 1-2 shift seems to be much better, almost normal in regards to firmness so maybe it's just a long re-adapt process? There's no slipping, no shudder, all shifts seem good but just soft at times. Maybe the refill time is off due to wear or from the cleaning of the newer fluid..not sure but it was getting there beforehand but I did have some old fluid.

My thoughs are maybe something got into the valve body or an air pocket, but the fluid looked clean and this happened too soon after the change with "clean" fluid to make me think I have a gummed up valve or solenoid.

All thoughts appreciated.

I got mine with 200k miles, so maybe I don't know what it's supposed to feel like.
At 240k miles now, can't say I can tell any difference, but I've been playing with tune.
It's not bad, but my 4l80e does feel quicker and firmer.

So if you feel it's too soft, all I can come up with is speeding up the shift time, bumping shift pressure, and reducing torque management.

Looking at one log, my 1-2 shift times vary from .300 to .550. Seem to average around .350 cruising around.
But in loggin WOT, my 1-2 ends up at .775s!

There is a 'trans slip rpm' that can logged if you're worried that its slipping. Mine shows a little bit, so I'm not sure what is acceptable/normal.

After today's drive it again seemed slightly better in terms of shift firmness. I started watching Silver Surfer's vids and have learned alot form those but still want to gather more info before i start tweaking things.

It take a while for the adaptives to learn... Sometimes up to 200 miles.
Best to change filter/fluid and then to an adaptive reset procedure OR with HPT
you can do a "clean/purge" procedure so the trans knows to RElearn the adaptives
due to a service
