Sorry it's giving you such trouble.

I actually thought it was going to be more difficult than it was. Mine went relatively smooth, but mine was also Win 7.
It’s just insult to injury thats all. I had the Vxdiag all installed and once I got past the bad cable I cam across another issue that was user error. It also had trouble connecting to my NNBS so I ran out of patience and sent it back. Only to find that I was the issue. I am just trying to make use of a refurbished laptop I bought and couldn’t return once I realized I didn’t want it. That laptop os still giving me issues.
At least I have my first tech2 assisted repair under my belt so it is earning its keep. Getting tis2000 working is just going to be a bonus down the road for me or someone I know.

VVT was introduced in 2010 on the LC9 and LMG 5.3 motors. Well, as to whether or not yours has those calibrations listed, plug your VIN in here and have a look: https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

I really don't know if it will be a patch or a whole new program.

I got this for my 03---20201129_214804.jpg 20201129_215123.jpg
I don't know if this is specific to my vehicle or if it's for just my year vehicle--Recalls or updates in general. Cool stuff tho.

When you request the info from your vehicle with the Tech 2 and then plug it up to your PC and TIS2000 it reads the current VIN and software calibrations and then it will pull up all of the software updates available for your vehicle since the current/existing calibration and give you the option to update to the newer software and it will list out what each calibration addressed or fixed, just like what you are seeing there.

I used to use vbox a lot. My company owns it. [emoji16][emoji106][emoji631]

Great, how do I get the virtual machine to connect to the serial port. When I follow this it wont start the virtual machine. this is the last step to get it to work with TIS2000. So close!

Here is where I get stuck:

I need to set Virtualbox to allow my machine to communicate with the host COM port on the screen shown below.

But when I follow the instructions I linked before the VM won't start. it just gives me an error saying it "failed to start". I figure maybe that's not the name of the port so I go looking for information of the port in Device Manager and find a whole bunch of nothing as you can see here.

Yeah looks like it’s listing printer port and no com port. Do you have a real com port, or a usb emulating one? It’s pretty rare to see an actual serial port these days, but absolutely preferred.

I had the same problem with my MacBook Pro. It was using an emulator for the serial port, so I could talk to some lab equipment.. never got it to work. It’s a pita.

I am thinking I will need to find a USB to Serial adapter. the problem then will be that mi TIS2000 is looking for COM1 and I will be on something like COM7, 8 or 9.

I dunno...
