One thing I noticed and am surprised at is how quickly the vehicle battery drains when I am playing around with the Tech2. What is a normal timeframe before needing to start the vehicle or to connect a charger?

Make sure when you're playing around with the Tech2 with ignition on/engine off, have the hvac and radio switched off and door closed so interior lights are off. Also maybe switch off the headlight/parking light switch to make sure those aren't coming on also.

Thanks. Yes, all that helps. I was activating motors and all kinds of stuff on my 13 and it chimed and told me to start it.

I drained our Envoy dead in about 1/2 hour. Added a charger when I was actually trying to fix the issue I was chasing.

Well ordered the Tech2 yesterday after the paypal debacle. See how it goes.
For anyone that has used the acdelcotds site and flashed an ecu. When i put the gm long block in my tahoe, the paperwork stated to do an ecu reflash and it listed some numbers. Will this site have the updates listed by number? And can be accessed with a subscription?
In addition to the tech 2, i will need a laptop and software to do the ecu reflash?
With the issues here and there with the cracked software, has anyone used the software available on the tds, using clone devices like the tech 2 or vxdiag?
Do the updates write over the entire file and basically take the ecu back to "stock"? I have a bbp tune thats been in for last 5yrs and had logged the new engine and had it checked and everything was still ok but i have an upcoming reason that i may need to revert back to stock.

When using TDS, you just need access to any modern computer connected to the internet. To get the Tech-2 connected to the PC, I use a Keyspan Lite adapter that goes from the big phone cord to a serial port to a USB port. Now you may or may not need to do that flash, BlackBear might be able to help and preserve the old tune. Talk to them first. I do not know exactly what GM gave you, maybe post a pic?

The other contains what I believe to be the TIS2000 software however when I try to run it it doesn't work. I am trying to run it on a widows 10 PC. It doesn't seem to like it. Do I need to run on a virtual XP machine or something?

There was a small disc with an install video and a folder labeled (TIS200 PATCH) it tells me to insert a cd and run the application file. I have a red and white official looking disc and what appears to be a home burned disc both containing the same files. When I attempt to open the autorun file on either of them I get a message that says I need internet explorer 4.01 service pack 2. when I try to run through the install of this version it starts the install wizard, tells me a previous program installation was never completed, next it tells me that the version I am choosing to install is older than what I have and that it will only install parts of the program. If I choose to continue I get to a window where I accept an agreement and click ok. then it tells me it is unable to download because the "internet is busy"

Yup, it's a busy place these days...

Any pointers?

I have an old laptop with Windows 7 and it loaded onto that just fine. The only thing you'll use it for George is to download snapshots so you can view them on the laptop which allows you to see all of the data once rather than just 5 or nine lines at a time.

2. A factory tune for my tahoe so I can get the whipple tune to start (whipple requires factory tune as a start)
Just trying to be prepared for all outcomes. It will be a few more weeks before the sc is delivered so i still have some time.

Depends on what you want to update. The TIS2000 is only good for 2006 and back, except Saturn vehicles up to 2007, I believe.

I, like James, installed the TIS2000 software from the disks provided onto an old Win 7 laptop and it works just fine. Once it installed I right clicked on the program and told it to always run in Win XP compatibility mode.

I actually just used it today to reprogram a used ECM as a replacement for my buddies 2001 Suburban.

Is your engine an LY5 or LMG? I'm thinking LY5 as the calibrations for my FlexFuel LC9 are different than those listed by that guy. Walk into the house, hook up to my PC, download the calibrations into the Tech-2, walk back out to the truck and program the modules. Done.

You'll never use TIS2000 for a GMT900, it's obsolete for them. You might use it to help someone with an old 800 or 400 or Pontiac Montana or Grand Prix or Grand Am, you know, stuff from the 1990s through the early to mid 2000s. Nothing with the CanBus architecture though.

I own a 2002 envoy and my Father has a 2004 Sierra but it’s not likely that I will need it. I would still like to know it works.

I guess my question is “if I want to use the tis2000 on my windows 10 laptop do I need to run it on a virtual machine running xp?”

I believe so, but am not 100% sure on that. Might ask the Saab or Corvette guys.

What I was told by the guy was originally there was many engine codes; however in the GM rebuilt market there are only a few; hence the info on the oil pan, valve covers, etc and CAL updates.
My engine for example has an oil level sensor in the oil pan. Replacement engine did not. I used my original oil pan on the new engine.
Yes, i would love to use bbp for my tune but like I mentioned previously they are really backed up. For example, currently, i am sitting at a month waiting on an updated trans / ECU update file from them.
Kinda still would like to know about my original questions. Will i find these CAL #s on the tds. If reprogrammed is it just a "patch persay" or will I be left with a completley new "tune" with all oe specs. Thanks

That is all I received as well.

The "cracked" key is on the small disk, along with the "How to install" video.

The install video goes really fast. I just followed along and paused the video after every step and the install went pretty easy. It shows you step by step how to install the software and even how to install the "Key".

The plain white disks are marked 1 and 2 but they had mine reversed in the sleeves.

Disk 1 is the one that has the "Auto Run" application on it. The video will show you when to install the 2nd disk and then later the 3rd (small) disk.

VVT was introduced in 2010 on the LC9 and LMG 5.3 motors. Well, as to whether or not yours has those calibrations listed, plug your VIN in here and have a look: https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

I really don't know if it will be a patch or a whole new program.
