LED light bar in the front valence?

So I just recently mounted some LED work lights under my rear bumper for additional reverse light. I'm pretty impressed with them, and now I'm thinking about adding some LED bars to the front. I want to replace the (useless) fogs, but then I got to thinking maybe I could add a legit light bar to the front. I measured the gap in the front of the valence, the one between the tow hooks. It's about 21" x 1 5/8". I think a 20" light bar might fit, but it might be tight vertically. I want to keep it looking as clean and OEM as possible. Has anyone else mounted one here, and want to put up some pics?

The only problem with mounting there is you'll have to rig up some brackets, cause there is nothing there to bolt to. Also that panel is curved.

Yeah, I'm sure I can make some kind of bracket out of band aluminium or something. And they make curved bars as short as 20".

I think a curved 20" would look good. And then get 2 6" bars for the fog holes.

I thought about doing a 30" behind the grill, but I can't see myself needing more than my quad retrofit.

That's awesome. I was wondering if the double row bars would fit. I was looking at a single row 21". How'd you mount yours?

Mine is a 21" also, There is two bumper bolts underneath and are about 20" apart center of valance just mounted some L brackets off them and tightened everything down, very solid

Thanks, yeah currently the valance is black again (terrible color match before) and the led bar went on the f350 but I sold the truck with the light bar so i am ordering another one for the yukon but not sure what one, one is a amber/ white double row, and the other is a single row rigid reflector copy

Here's my ebay light bars. The small cubes mounted below the light bar were gonna be mounted in the fog lights, until I found that one of the old fog light brackets doesn't exist anymore (mudding accident). I like them. I want another 20" bar to put in the lower valance.

You could try putting a 20 or 30 behind the grill? I've found that the higher the mounting position, the better flood you get

Well I ordered these 36w pods to replace my fogs.

They should fit in the hole pretty well, though I might have to make some brackets.

And I also decided on this 21" single-row bar for the valance:

I think it'll fit in the valence nicely, despite not being curved. The single row design should have a nice even gap around the edges, and be a little more subtle.

That should be 14,000 lumens in LEDs alone. Then I also have the 55w HIDs and my highs with the HI-6 mod.

I'll be wiring the 36w pods to my stock fog wiring, and probably tie in the 21" bar as well. The fog fuse is 15A, right? Because I just calculated the three bars pulling 14.333A... Might need to bump it up to a 20A fuse.

Can't wait to see the HIDs, high beams, and 3 light bars on at the same time...

I like the single row because the reflectors remind me of rigid lights but the amber would sure be useful here on vancouver island as it is foggy and rainy heremany months, I would say leaning towards the dual row amber/white

Will do. It's eBay shipping, so it'll probably be late next week when they get here, and not till next weekend at the soonest that I can get them installed. But I'll post pics when it's done.

it should definitely be bright. i've got the 4" fog lights and a 52" mounted above the windshield. that one alone is like 24,000 lumen. if i could get away with it without getting tickets, i'd drive with that one on all the time. don't even need the headlights with it on. i still have a 24" i have to mount somewhere also.

Go for behind the grill. Its perfect for flashing those special assholes on the road that cut you off. If you mount it on the upper part of the radiator mount, it shines right through peoples rear windshields on most sedans.

LOL good idea! i've already got my headlights adjusted just high enough so they hit the sideview mirrors of most cars. i wanted to put it there in the upper part, just need to fab up some brackets. my lightbar has the side mounts on either end.

Use a Relay or risk burning your vehicle down.

Mounting options might get a little tricky. The bar behind my grill has the sliding adjustable mounts on the bottom which made it very easy to mount. The traditional side mounts might be a little trickier but I'm sure it still would be relatively simple.
