I did this mod last night. Just to be clear, the three wires you want to splice are the brown/white, green/white and extreme lower right black/white wire in the harness. There will be two black/white wires in the harness. As stated above, the black/white wire you want to splice is the lower right one. That black/white wire, once spliced, will travel via new wire to the ground post on your 3.5mm jack. This will be the longer of the three posts if you bought the amazon jack. The other green/white and brown/white wires will be your left and right channels, so once spliced, run them via new wire to the other two available posts on your 3.5mm jack. It really doesn't matter which posts since the system is set up in a stereo format.
Finally, the last think I'd like to add is you can get by with 18ga speaker wire, but I found myself stripping it down (removing most of the threads at the connection) to make room for the connection. In other words, I found that it was a little too big for me on this job. If I were to do it again, I'd go somewhere else other than Lowe's (they only carry down to 18ga) and find some 22ga stuff to work with. I think this will make life much easier you guys who attempt to try this.
Finally, the last think I'd like to add is you can get by with 18ga speaker wire, but I found myself stripping it down (removing most of the threads at the connection) to make room for the connection. 03+ XM equipped. Auxiliary port add-on mod
I would like to give 2 thumbs up to 05nali's post. There are several different versions people are doing with this mod on different sites around the net. His version is by far the easiest I have found. People say to pull the radio to get to the XM receiver wires. If your vehicle is equipped with the XM tuner, go in behind the glove box. You do not have to even remove the glove box. Locate your 3 XM wires and off you go. We used 3 t-splice connectors, wire, and an auxiliary port from the local Radio Shack. This entire mod only cost about 6 or 7 bucks. This was such an easy mod that anyone with a little bit of common sense can accomplish. Experienced or not. We mounted the port in the center console compartment between the cig lighter and power point. Plug in your aux cord to the port and then to your phone, ipod, mp3 player, etc.. I have included a picture of my finished aux port and a picture of the XM receiver wiring behind the glove box. If you have any questions just ask.

Hello, You are looking for 3 wires obviously. The ground wire is black with a white stripe. Your 2 audio wires are brown/white stripe and a green/white stripe. I was skeptical about this mod even working and it actually works great. Cheap and simple. Plus you do not have to change head units. Anymore questions let me know. Good luck

Sorry for the dumb question but am I correct in assuming that I am stripping down a portion of the mentioned wires currently from the xm receiver attaching my new wires to them & then running the other ends of my wires to the aux input I'm installing?

Nothing like digging up an old thread, but I got a quick question... will the posts on these aux jacks accept female spade connectors or do they have to be soldered? I don't have a soldering iron and my skills blow, but I can crimp like no bodys business

So I did this install and a couple requested that i do a write up, so here is the write up i followed here:

I ordered one of those so i can mount it in my dash, but for now I bought THIS one at radioshack. Works peferct, just isnt long enough to fit through a hole in the dash. And it CAN take the heat of a soldering iron. I soldered my connections.
NOTE: If you get a different jack, make sure it is STEREO not MONO
You will also need a 3.5mm male to male cable to go from your phone to your jack. I bought THIS cable at my local radioshack along with the jack. Before anyone asks, the blue cable is the shit. Gives it that nice "custom" look.
I took off the lower part of the dash to make this more accessible. The tab is blue. Just pry it up with a screw driver. Then behind that is a smaller black tab that if you push in, the harness will pop out. Locate the green/white, brown/white, and black/white wires. The black is your ground and will connect to the longest post on the jack, or if you used the one I bought, the top post on the side. Also, there are two black/white wires. The one you want to splice into is the one farthest down on the right corner. Here is a bad pic i borrowed from GMFS since i forgot to take pics. :facepalm:
This mod works perfect, sounds great, and best of all, IS CHEAP! I use it with my DROID and my Ipod. Looks good too, and factory if you don't use a blue cable hahaha. I did the write up after the fact, so anyone who does this let me know if I left any details out. I will update the thread with some more pics when I get back to my truck this week.
Edit: Make sure you unplug your device while listening to xm otherwise normal XM will have decreased volume or will not work. Once you unplug your device from the cable XM will function normal again.
UPDATE: I got the amazon jack today and soldered it in and mounted it in the dash. Pics below:

With the look of your Beautiful Denali its weird that you dont have an after market Radio that has an Ipod jack already installed? One that has where you dont have the Blue wire coming out. I have an Alpine D310 in my 04 Denali XL with the Ipod connection to it so you can have the wire ran into you middle console and you can run it with the head unit. Im not disrespectful at all..I was just wondering what radio do you have in that awesome denali? Great post by the way for the people who have a stock radio.

Super easy job thanks for the write up! Did this tonight in my Denali. I mounted mine into the blank filler plate next to he TC button. Honestly I might have had 20 minutes in and 10 bucks in parts after buying the tap splices, aux jack, and speaker wire. Well worth it my opinion!

yes i do realize there are the 3 terminals. my question was which of the 2 jacks that you showed pictures of were able to withstand solder heat.
i was asking as i couldnt find that top jack (the round one) anywhere, as the ebay links ran into a dead end and found out that seller doesnt offer them anymore. but right before i logged off lastnite, i found the round jack on amazon and was able to purchase that, so that kind of solved my question. cant wait to get my jack in the mail and listen to my songs on my phone, as im too lazy to transfer songs from phone, to pc, to burn to a cd lol. trying to save some steps
