Im curious too about why you chose the LQ9 over the LQ4 since you're running a blower. I was under the impression that the compression ratios on the LQ4 were more boost friendly. Are the stronger rods the primary reason behind the choice?

Funny you say that. I just sent him a text msg yesterday about wiring up electric exhaust cutouts to my alarm as an accessory function to show off the cam rumble. I think my exact words in the text were: "Dude. If we lived in the same town, I'd be broke LOL!"

im interested in the logic behind the LQ9 over the LQ4 as well....

lemme use logic to pull an answer out of my ass...

the LQ9 being a high compression motor which makes is built to handle the higher stresses of boost... however i suppose the logic works the other way as well, with the lower compresion of the LQ4, it leaves more on the table that can be achieved by added boost

The later LQ9s were updated with stronger rods, floating pins, and graphite coated skirts. The compression ratio of the LQ9 is slightly higher than the LQ4 due to the flat top pistons, which does make the cr of the LQ4 more ideal for boost. But I can add thicker head gaskets to drop the cr down some and have the benefits of the stronger powdered metal rods, coated skirts, etc of the LQ9.

Hell yeah. I've been thinking about the L92 heads pretty hard. But I gotta get a new trans before I spend my money anywhere else. Didn't plan on doing the 6.0 swap until after the trans, but after cracking the 5.3, I kinda had no choice.

from everything i have read and heard... a built l60 is about 50/50 to the l80... which makes me just want an l80 since i can prolly hook one cheaper then a built l60

Word. Thats gonna be a badass setup, especially if you run the L92 heads.

The L80 isn't a direct swap like the 60 or 65, right? I thought there was some fab work and driveshaft shortening that needed to be done to make a L80 fit.

Not that it would matter to JK since he's already way overboard on the insane truck meter.

I'm content with about 500 to the wheels which is fine for a built 65. Anything more and 80 is gonna be the best option. He's 2wd so the tires are just gonna spin anyway, I'm hoping my tcase stays together with a tvs @ 10psi. Good thing other people have more money than me so I can see how things pan out first

I personally wouldn't go with the 80e as the gears/shifts are a tad different. I will be going with a built 60e as soon as mine craps out, but even with over 550HP the tranny still is going strong!

I'm very happy with my built 4l60e, not a lick of power behind it.....but like the movie says, build it and they will come

Exactly why I'm sticking with a built 60e. The lower 1st gear in the 60e will help some with off the line acceleration.
