Really????? The faithful GM Person Breanne stopped replying? Did you give her your VIN#? Because that's all she ever asks for.
I truly wish she would be banned from this forum.
I caught onto this a long time ago too. I get the impression that this VIN thing is done so as to make everybody else think GM customers are getting help via Private Message. If GM really cares, they need to keep the discussions where people can see what help they are offering.
I still see no GM representative either confirming or denying that GM is accepting any responsibility in the dashboard defects.
Each issue is handled on a case-by-case basis.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.

OK, I am contacting you. Why would they be handled on a case-by-case basis? The dashboard has either cracked or not. It's either covered by warranty or GM Customer Assistance or not. Is it true or not that GM is offering an extended 5 year 100,000 mile extended coverage on the cracked dashboards?
Sorry if I sound mean spirited. But I just had to spend $400 to replace a defective throttle body on a Tahoe that should have been covered by warranty. GM just reported record profits. Of course they did, they won't fix anything anymore.
Refusing to warrant a $400 defective throttle body just cost GM a $50,000 sale on a new Suburban. I am about a week away from purchasing a fully loaded F250 because of my local Chevrolet dealer.
Way to go Sheriff.
It makes no sense whatsoever that some owners have to pay $200 deductible (or all for that matter) for the dashboard repair, while others get it done for free. And it makes no sense that GM can't adopt a policy on replacing the defective dashboards, disclose the policy to customers, and make it available at all dealerships. It shouldn't take place on a case-by-case basis. The cracked dashboards are a nationwide expedemic. And it's on $45,000 and $50,000 Tahoes, not some $19,000 compact cracker box.
I also think the government (NTSB) should evaluate the defective dashboards to determine if they compromise the integrity of the passenger side air bags once activated. This of course would involve buying up used Tahoes, with cracks, and crash testing them.
Great video a guy took at what appears to be a used car lot. He sits in every GMT900 ride and every dash is cracked.
Sheriff, regarding your Tahoe throttle body, did you contact GM Customer Service regarding this issue? If so, could you provide your Service Request number so I can look into this further?

sorta off-topic, but did you really pay $400 for a throttle body??

After watching this video, my condolences go out to all my NNBS friends. Now this is point blank crazy, .................... and GM will not do a general recall. UNREAL!

Sheriff,
The cases are handled on a case-by-case basis because circumstances are different in every case. The vehicle year, make, model, actual cause of problem, etc. all need to be taken into consideration before a decision is made.
In regards to the extended coverage, I apologize, but I do not have access to that information. I am with Customer Service, I am not a technician. I can help resolve some problems, and others are documented and escalated to the proper departments.
I understand this problem is frustrating, but there are procedures I must follow in order to help in a possible resolution. Please understand that I will do my best to help each and every one of you in any way I can.
