I don’t even know how you bleed brakes without a pressure bleeder!

To everyone who recommended the pressure bleeder, thank you! It's a game changer for brake bleeds. I've never had such stubborn air in the system before, and this just took care of it like it was nothing. I'm happy to report that nothing is wrong, there was just air still in the system after all the bleeding I did. One round with the pressure bleeder and all is good. I also used the Orion Motor Tech one, not the Motive.
Yep I swear by the Motive bleeder. its made brake work so easy flor me.

Go get a OBD topdon about 53$ on Amazon. Go into the ABS module and open the inlet and then the outlet valves while holding down the brakes with engine off. That pedal will move down and you will chase the air in those chambers. Pedal will become noticeably firmer. Then re bleed the brakes. I’ve done this on 3 vehicles so far and all saw improvement in brake feel

Not to divert the thread, but regarding the Motive bleeder. I tried one, and it leaked. Couldn't get passed 5 lbs of air. I was about to start "fixing" it with clamps, etc., but decided to exchange it. The second one, same leaking issues. And again, exchanged... same issue with the third one. Returned it. I know Motive is (was?) a good tool and have used them in the past. I then checked reviews (I didn't at first because I've used Motive in the past and had no issues) and apparently there are many complaints now about leaking. I've since considered the OMT (Orion Motor Tech) bleeder.

Thoughts?

I'm. also. curious what part of the motive leaked. mine held 25-30 psi pressure just fine with zero leaks.

Wonder if they changed the design or something. 3 bad ones in a row seems unlikely though.

if it was leaking at the master cyl connection. mine came with 2 different thickness rubber seals that go inside the fitting, and since mine required a crazy high pressure, I paid a little extra to add the gm metal cap. I has to use pliers to twist it on the first time, but after that by hand would work.

it sealed very well with the thick one, but not with the thin rubber seal. so that's why I wonder. they do have a bunch of different kits with different part numbers for the different assortments.

their website seems to show options better than trying to use Amazon

I tried using the Motive last night on the Yukon and when I got up to about 15lbs the cap exploded and cracked off of the master cylinder. How many pounds is everyone using with this?

What kind of cap? I've only gone to ten incidentally..
But @j91z28d1 said he hit 25-30 a few posts above..

What kind of cap are you using?
I have the aluminum one, so if anything it might crack the reservoir.

I have the aluminum one too.. have had 35 static on it with my air compressor plummed into it to make sure it didn't drop below the min setting the tsb for my hybrid system called for.

no issue.

I wouldn't try that with plastic, but I would have expected 15 to be fine with plastic. are you sure it was twisted all the way on to lock?

It was the cheapo basic one that came with the kit. I ordered an upgraded one off Amazon that I was able to rig up to use with the Motive kit. I'm going to order the aluminum one eventually but didn't have time to wait. Brakes feel great after eventually bleeding them. Big fan of the Bosch quiet cast line of brakes.

It might not have been on all the way. I was doing it a night with a flashlight so who knows....two of the three little tabs under the cap busted off....
