Once again, I don’t understand all this for not being sure I wanted to delete the wave plates. That’s it. That’s literally the only thing I wasn’t sure I wanted to get into. And I didn’t say hell no I’m not doing that, I just said I’m not sure I want to. And then I asked if the Z Paks deleted the wave plates like he was suggesting as that all comes together and I wouldn’t need to source an extra fiber and steel for each one. So I don’t see how I’m hell bent on going with what he suggested not doing? I’m literally doing everything else he suggested plus replacing the pump and valve body. I genuinely don’t understand what the problem is here.

If not deleting the wave plates is so bad, maybe he could explain why instead of my way or the highway, get out of my thread, your transmission won’t last, good luck.

I just bought a 2019 Suburban with a 6L80, and I’m gathering info to do my first diy transmission service on it.

I have a question regarding the 6L80:
Where is the transmission cooler located? I figured it would be in the radiator, but I thought I had read somewhere that it was in the ac condenser?

There are two: the first in the circuit is a water to oil cooler in the pax side end tank in the radiator. On a 2019, I believe the second in the circuit is Siamesed to the ac condenser in front of the radiator.

Thanks! Good to know that it has two coolers - I would have assumed it just had one.

You would think it only did have one with the size coolers that GM put in these big SUV’s. At least the one in my 2020 is bigger than my 2011 and 2002.

Your ‘19 burb has the 6L80? Was it 2020 that they changed? Or is that just the difference in the Denali and the 6.2l?

The 6.2 rigs got the 10-speed starting in 2018.

Oh God I just got a 1-2 flare or surge on my tahoe. Or 2-3 not sure i was too pissed.

Oh God I just got a 1-2 flare or surge on my tahoe. Or 2-3 not sure i was too pissed.
It's more than likely a 2-3 flare if you're flaring in that part of the drive cycle though a 1-2 flare could happen as well. A 1-2 flare happens when the 2-6 clutch fails to come on timely when TEHCM commands a 1-2 upshift. Mechanical problems with the 2-6 clutch are relatively rare. Most often, a 1-2 flare is either TEHCM or valve body. 2-3 flares are usually base welds at the 3-5-R drum leaking, causing 3-5-R clutch pack slip & burn-up.

thank God for warranties. How much time I got doc? only does it sometimes under load when cold.

That's impossible to predict as it can let go at any time, to be honest. I'd recommend trying to diagnose it asap so you'd know for sure if you do have to yank it and it doesnt strand you some place. Warranty will take care of the rest...fluid-wise you should have Dex 6 full synthetic in there (the 8-speeds take a different type of fluid).

Ok I'll have the dealer do a flush the transmission filter was done about about 2k miles ago so only 5-7 quarts came out.

To convert an awd trans to rwd, is it as simple as using the Camaro tail housing extension and having a driveshaft made? I live in south florida so there’s absolutely no need for awd but if it’s a huge hassle then I’ll just remove all the awd stuff and buy a 2wd trans. Just trying to avoid pulling the trans

I would like to know this as well. Also what changes need to be made to stop codes from being thrown from missing components, actuators etc. If the AWD even has such things. Do the AWD have any selection options for different traction modes like full 4wd lock, or a low range?
