Yup, thanks... I did check the switch by selecting reverse, and the back up lights do light up...

I am returning my '05 Yukon to my original mechanic tomorrow..... ( I just don't trust the other shops I checked out)...... ( sigh )....
Since I have a space & a lift reserved at the shop..... Since they can 'walk and chew gum" at the same time, I may have them replace my rear main seal. ( it leaks a little bit )
I am a glutton for punishment.....

Probably you have not disconnected the battery while working on the starter and you made a shortcut. Then the 40 ampere fuse which is in the fuse box, on top on the left side is burned.
That would explain all the lights on your dashboard...

Good advice... but battery was disconnected... I 'believe' all fuses were checked, but the fuses will be re-checked today.

I had once this fuse blown, i do not now why, just removed the radio, and my symptoms where the same...

I think, I FINALLY, found a shop, that does only, Auto Electronics. The shop is nearby. They charge a flat, one-time fee, to solve the problem. ( good reviews & I found them via , a good repair shop.) I'm taking my Yukon there tomorrow.

In my case it was the 40a stud... whatever that means....

Look on the pic. The fuse left on top, if you look from the side in your car...

That one, where the guy point's on.
