Hi,

Just now I face same probleme with my yukon denali 30anniversary edition.

The scenario is as follows:

The first time I received my new car while it was in the showroom, I started the car and it didn't start. The agent did a jump starter and it started. However, I refused to receive my new car until after a full inspection, and on the second day they replaced the battery and I received the car.
And I did not drive the car except for simple days and a distance of 198 km. During the past 3 weeks, there was heavy rain in the country, and I did not take the car out of the garage, and I only used the remote to start the car for 10 minutes, and it is turn off after 10 min automatically.

Until now, I entered the car and tried to start it on, but it did not work!
I jump-started the car and it worked properly, but the engine light is on and I don’t know what should i do. Tomorrow I will take the car to the local dealer :(

I hope I helped everyone.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Sounds like you have a parasitic drain on the battery somewhere. Dealer should be able to diagnose. Sorry you're having trouble with it so soon. :-(

Yes, the dealer told me dont use the remote start until we got the fix from General Motor, they will send an update to our dealer in few month.

Happen to me at the grocery store today when the freezing Temps hit the DFW area, between the NFC and AFC championship games. The vents stayed on, wouldn't shut off and car would say unable to start due to ideal conditions not met (paraphrasing) did a quick Google and found this thread. The grocery store had a tool box and used a 10mm to take of the negative terminal to reset the system and then I was up and and running.

I'm basketball shorts and a light hoodie, this was not a pleasant experience.

What a POS moment.

What triggered mine, checked out at the register, hit the remote start on key fob, went to car and it wouldn't start. When I would turn it off or lock it with the key fob the vents stayed on, so did the DRL like the engine was running.

The only major changes as of recent was my retrofit for my seat heaters were done. This is the first time this has happened. Keeping the 10mm wrench in the armrest.

Make sure you get updated BCM software, that has the fix in it.

Does anyone know if issues are related to BCM software, when you get one fixed, others that were fixed before it get patched as well?

I'm assuming that by getting the DRL recall BCM update, that would patch issues like this as well? Also, the headlights being on during the day was a BCM update and I'm hoping that I got that fixed when I took it in for the DRL recall.

Should be that way…would expect that the fixed accumulate from one version to the next.

This exact thing happened to me yesterday. We were with our baby and toddler on the top of a mountain in the snow. ONSTAR was useless and after an hour told us they couldn’t find someone to help us. It took us hours to get help. Finally had a friend make it up to us to disconnect the battery and reconnect it and that worked.

I’m wondering now that it’s “working” do I take it to the dealership still? Is there a fix for it so this doesn’t happen again?

I put a picture of 1 of the multiple messages my dash was saying.

No, you will still need to get the computer updated. If you still wanna use the feature before the update, just make sure you have a 10mm wrench, otherwise you are just playing russian roulette.

See Post #103 of this thread, you need a BCM firmware update. You also need a BCM firmware update for the DRL recall, too, so; yes, go to the dealer, get the latest BCM code....(BCM = Body Control Module).

I wonder of the freezing temps or when the heater is on could be a culprit. I didn't read through the entire thread to see if there is a trigger, but I have used the remote start plenty of times with no issue, yesterday was the first time I used in really cold temps, with my seat heaters connected.

I got the BCM update for the DRLs, are you saying a seperate update is required for this?

No, it was a communications issue between modules, with the fix being a software update to the BCM. People had this issue in the summer as well as cold weather (in hot weather, vehicle figures out to turn on the AC and ventilated seats if equipped).

The only info we are missing is how old @Amandaann's vehicle is (ie its build date), and whether or not the BCM has seen any updates since then.

Mine is a 2022, I bought it in October of 2022 and it just hit 2K miles. I’m not sure what its build date is.

Thank you! I used to work in service for a dealer so I know a bit about recalls and what not but that was Toyota and it’s been a long time.

Definitely a bad time for our family for it to decide to happen!

Open the driver's door and down at the bottom of the B-Pillar you'll see a silver sticker. Just above the QR code is your build date.

Ah I gotcha. I haven’t had a chance to check it but I know I haven’t had the BCM update for the RDLs yet.

Just experienced this issue. Called my dealer with the TSB posted in post 103. They stated there is an update to this TSB posted January the 13th of 2023. PIT5873D is the new TSB. Says that they are still aware of the issue and that they are still looking for a permanent fix. As of this time, there is no fix to this issue.

Does your vehicle have the recall for the DRLs? If so, take it in for that and they'll update the BCM. The update for the remote start issue was also a BCM update so you'll get the latest and greatest BCM software when they update it for the DRL issue. I don't know that I've heard of anyone getting their BCM updated and continuing to have the remote start issue.
