Ironically after I chimed in on the Consumer reports thread yesterday my '22 At4 6.2 wont start this morning. It seems to have full electrical power -- lights/radio all fine but nothing happens when pushing start. Anyone else run into this?

Waiting for the Onstar tow now -- push button trans controls won't let me select anything except park. Hoping they can tow it without screwing anything up.

are the brake lights working?, will it go into service mode? "press the start button for more then 5 seconds with foot off the brake pedal"

Yes brake lights worked. Tried service mode as per the manual -- all the lights came on but it still wouldnt shift into neutral (or start). Tow guys dragged it onto the flatbed and now i await the dealer. At least it was in my driveway and not on a road trip somewhere!

well please report back what the issue was when you find out, that information may help someone else down the road

someone else recently had a no start problem, they also had it towed in, I forget what the issue was though i'm thinking the dealer blamed the battery and replaced it and gave it back to them and the next day it wouldn't start again so they sent it back to the dealer again and then I haven't seen any update since then, you might find it if you poke around in the 2021+ section.

I remember reading that thread but also can't remember the outcome -- will try to find it -- thanks!

Checked In on it today at the dealer. Turns out there is a bulletin that if you remote start the vehicle it may shutoff and not restart when you press the dash start button (which is how mine went). I had remote started it probably 25 times prior with no issues. Here’s the rub - GM is still working on the fix (I guess software) so the solution for now is not to remote start it. They showed me the bulletin otherwise I’d be skeptical of that diagnosis but it is what it is. They had to clear the computer in order for it to restart. Keeping it another night to make sure it continues to start with dash button.

Don’t know how widespread this is or whether anyone should be concerned about remote starting when far from home. I know I won’t be!

Hopefully that’s all it is. It makes me concerned about using the remote start when we get our new car in a couple weeks. I so rarely use it in my current vehicle anyway. It doesn’t get that cold where I am though.

so.... a potential home fix then should be to disconnect & reconnect the battery ground cable, that would essentially "clear" the computer for the most part.
maybe the next time this happens or pops up on the thread someone can give it a try.
keep that in your suggestion box for now until we discover otherwise.
Edit***reportedly doing this has worked for 1 person so far

That sounds like a good idea -- certainly beats having it dragged onto a flatbed tow! The dealer told me it took them over 30 minutes to clear the computer but not sure how they do it - I'm assuming they plug in and force a restart. Maybe this can get fixed OTA at some point.

Have a 2021 AT4 that must’ve been made at 4:59 on a Friday leading up to a 3 day weekend…all sorts of gremlin issues.

With that said, haven’t had this issue, but reading in between the lines a bit here, is the issue that it was remote started, ran for 15 mins, turned off and then you tried to dash start it and dead vehicle?

If so, I wonder if it had been remoted started again prior to you accessing the vehicle, and then while it was running you “dash started it”…. doubt you’d be willing to chance it again, but just a thought

This sounds really crappy. We remote start ours all the time and quite often it runs the 15 minutes or whatever it is and shuts off before we are ready to go. Add this to the list of worries in the back of your mind on a brand new $80k rig :banghead:

Remote started it with key fob (not app) -- it was running about 5 mins by the time I got in and hit the dash start button. Hitting dash button shut off the engine instead of activating everything as it normally does. From that point it wouldn't restart using anything - dash, key, app. Lights and acc. power all worked but nothing triggered ignition. Couldn't get it into service mode either so transmission was locked in park.

Funny you mentioned the remote start cycle --- dealer was wondering outloud if i had let the remote start cycle time out (not sure if its 15 or 20 mins) whether this would have happened. The problem is apparently some sort of conflict with remote and regular start.

This is probably pretty rare so don't want to sway anyone from using remote start or pile on as a complainer -- but there was a service bulletin about it and no current fix so take it for what its worth. This stuff happens. I would **think** a fix would be out fairly quickly on something like this but who knows.

This exact issue happened on our 2022 Chevy Tahoe Z71 a few weeks back. Remote started, got in and hit the button, no start. Got all dash lights and seemed to have full power. I decided to jump start as a last resort and all was fine, started right up. Had a check engine light for a few days that also reset itself and had the battery tested at an independent shop, as this happened the week of Christmas and the dealer couldn't get me in. They claimed the battery was "perfect". I actually haven't tried remote starting since then, should try it again soon to see what happens.

Definitely odd to say the least, it’s running, but won’t allow the next step of turning on the rest of the vehicle

will definitely keep it in mind. thanks for the updates! BTW did you remote start via the app or the keyfob?
i'll remote start often with the keyfob when i got the dogs onboard. i used to use the app but it got too expensive after the trial

It was the key fob. What do you need to have for the app to work? Onstar? I think mine came with 36 Months of connected services - app functionality is a charge after that?

Well, my wife fell victim to this issue this evening. 2022 Yukon XL SLT that is 2 months old with 2000 miles. She has remote started multiple times in the last 2 months. This time around, the car would not start back up. All electrical worked fine. Onstar diagnostics showed engine errors. It had to be dragged up a flat bed as there is no way to put the car in neutral. Tow guy said he dealt with 2 others in the past week with the exact same issue.

Will report back what the dealer says when they see it tomorrow.
