I did not thoroughly clean the heads from the machine shop because they came in a vacuum seal bags and appeared to be spotless when I unpacked them. Is it possible that they were full of CNC shavings?

You can’t use the hat style valve seals with dual springs. You just found out why. That’s why I asked earlier if you bought Viton seals. You need this style. The hats on the ones you installed interfere with the inner spring on a dual spring setup.

You should have received different seats that came with the springs, then the style seals I showed you. The seats and seals are 2 piece instead of the 1-piece seat and seal. I know when I bought my springs from VHP, Roger made sure I had the seats and seals that worked with them and told me the reason. Where did you buy your springs from?

They are separate springs and seats and looked exactly like what was on the 862s, the seats are from comp and the seals are from BTR. I genuinely didn’t realize there were some for dual spring and some not for duals I just looked at what I pulled off the 862s and compared to pictures on Amazon who was the only one able to get me stuff within the week.

This is what I used. Not sure if this would have caused the noise I was hearing on the passenger side tho.

Which ones did you install? The inner spring will hit on the step you can see on the hat style which would make noise I believe. I forgot, yes the seats are a separate item regardless but you need the seals on the right. The factory style seals like the ones on the left have a step that causes interference with the inside of the inner springs. You probably have a bunch of hammered seals if you used those. You can also tap the seals down too far and damage them which you might have done if they’re the ones on the right that are in there.

Call me double stupid but I installed both, the larger hat style first then the smaller ones on top. They fit beautifully

I think you might have found the source of that noise. :hmmm2:

And you probably got away cheap. Most times lessons like this are expensive. ;)

This is a good lesson in Slow the phuck down and pay attention. I've really been pushing stuff to the edge lately and need to chill to avoid stuff like this.
