Yessir.I should have put new axel nuts on mine too? I was watching some engine rebuild videos and some of them were saying you had to buy new head bolts or something too.

head bolts are TTY, you need to stretch the piss out of em when you install them. new head bolts are rather cheap. unless you buy ARP head studs, those are re usable. but also run a few hundred bucks.I should have put new axel nuts on mine too? Did you get a cluster out of a 2500 for the trans temp gauge?Passed 150k.

Can’t wait for some winter snow fun here in WNYFinal Colorado update!
Yesterday evening we drove south and hit Geneva Creek(?). We found a mild trail on AllTrails listed "Geneva Creek Iron Fens", and we hit it about 5.30.
It had snowed up there about 4 inches already when we started up and it was a gorgeous drive. A ways up the trail we saw the biggest coyote I've ever seen, and the clearest view I've ever seen of one alive in the wild. There were tracks in the snow that looked like a pack was likely close. You can see part of the tracks in the first picture.
We made it *almost* to 10,000 feet when the snow started up again and pretty strong. 5 minutes further up the trail we would've made it, but at 9,950 feet we turned around. It was only about 30 degrees, but the missus was nervous about spending the night on the mountain and it was about half an hour from being dark. Definitely somewhere I'd want to revisit next time we're in the state.
We're back on the road towards home today. We've almost crossed Kansas ("The Long Flat"). A weird place for a fella who grew up in the mountains. The windmills fill me with a weird anxiety in my chest. Too much rotating mass, I think. We're gonna drive a few more hours and then hunker down at a rest stop for the night.

Maybe a bad sensor? Hopefully something easy...only time mine went on was when I went a full interval without topping off and as soon as the light appeared there was barely anything on the dip stick. Pining maybe your exhaust manifolds are starting to show there age?Parked mine today. Got a "Check oil Level" message on my instrument cluster. Checked my dipstick and the oil level was only a half quart low. Topped it off and the light is still on. I also noticed upon acceleration, I'm hear a very slight "diesel engine" type of pinging. Sounds similar to the Piston Slap that these engine get when they are cold. So I got spooked thing it's starved for oil, and I parked it till I can investigate further.
Bought it from digital dash solutions.Did you get a cluster out of a 2500 for the trans temp gauge?
Hoping it's just a bad sensor. I can remember if the oil pan needs to be removed or not in order to replace the oil level sensor. I should also mention that I usually run Amsoil and change the oil every 5k miles. But due to time and money constraints, I used Super-Tech full synthetic from Walmart with all intentions of changing it in about few hundred miles or less. It's been about 2k miles on that oil now. I never run cheap oil, so I'm having thoughts that maybe it gummed up the oil level sensor? Or did the sensor just happen to fail? My truck is 20yrs old and that IS the original sensor as far as I know, unless it was replaced before 50k miles, because that's how long I've owned this truck. Bought it in 2005 with with 52k miles on it.Maybe a bad sensor? I truly wouldn’t blame the super tech, I believe it’s produced by warren.Hoping it's just a bad sensor. All done.Sorry, yes I did remove those bolts after taking the pic. The pics I posted was right after I pulled that front of the hub off--well it basically fell off in my hand. I was trying to get as much done as quickly as possible, while being attacked by mosquitoes----plus I've been awake almost 24 hrs. I was beating the crap out of that rear hub plate, and I was also trying to hammer a pry bar, then a long screwdriver with no good results.
This is a ton of metal shavings stuck to the abs sensor. I'm still shocked the wheel didn't fall off!View attachment 352936View attachment 352937
Awesome. Good job Tony! BTW your Tech2 can tell you what’s setting that code so you don’t need to guess. That’s what it’s for.All done.
I had to get me an air hammer from HF.View attachment 352977
Literally took 2 mins and it was off! HALLELUJAH!!View attachment 352978View attachment 352979
Well worth whatever I paid for it. I also installed a new cv ds axle. Weird thing--the brake maintenance light went off, but the abs light is still on. I tried to clear the codes but they just kept coming back. Next step is to swap out the ps sensor--and take it from there.
Got it cut about halfway and put the breaker bar on it and twisted it off. @89 suburban, I read some of that other thread, and it didn't matter what speed I set the saw to, it ate up the blade without cutting very far. Ive been cutting a couple inches off of these blades to get to fresh teeth. Gotta go hunt down another set of the cam/bolt thingies, and get another can of pb blaster. Hopefully I can get it done today, there are more storms coming
I tried once before and I couldn't find how to do it. Iirc I looked in special functions.Awesome. Good job Tony! BTW your Tech2 can tell you what’s setting that code so you don’t need to guess. That’s what it’s for.
It’s in there, I don’t remember where. Someplace under chassis.I tried once before and I couldn't find how to do it. Iirc I looked in special functions.

I'm sure everyone will recommend verifying oil pressure with a mechanical gauge 1st, then go from there. Could be as simple as a bad stepper motor.Well, got the ole Burban home finally. Had my Father in Law meet me at me work this morning, and we were able to pull it with a tow rope out of the parking garage to a point where the tow truck was able to load it. Oil level is fine, and the gauge says I have almost 20psi when I start the engine. But even if I rev up to 2500 rpns's, the oil pressure doesn't increase it just stays about 20psi. Does anyone know how to diagnose this? Should I throw a new oil pressure sensor on it first? Or should I just assume that my oil pump is going bad? Also, the oil level warning light has gone out now. It's confusing the hell out of me. Maybe I should fire the parts cannon. Just replace the oil level sensor and oil pressure sensor and go from there![]()

My rig is a 2001, the cluster doesn't have stepper motors like the 03+ clusters to. 02 and older clusters have a low failure rate on the gauges. Other stuff fails in these clusters though, especially the odometer display.I'm sure everyone will reccomend verifying oil pressure with a mechanical gauge 1st, then go from there.
