My tech2 exhibits two issues.

1. It takes several power cycle attempts to connect to the CANDi. I assumed it was a bad cable connection.
2. When connecting to our 02 Envoy it also takes several power cycles to connect. When it fails the DIC in the cluster indicates “Unknown Driver”, the security warning illuminates and all the gauges go flat. When I power down the tech2 all is well.

could this be a funky VCI in the tech2?
Mine worked fine for a few weeks, then nada. I haven’t been able to connect to candi at all. I’ve tried in both the twins, and even bough5 another cable. I’m ready to chop that f@#$$&ing connection out and hardwire the beach.

I was just reading somewhere else that the memory card could be an issue. I have reached out to the vendor but am unsure if they will help me with it.

Let us know what you find, Mine will not communicate with the candi at all. Did when I first got it but quit. works fine on older stuff without it. and also passes self check.

If you have an aftermarket radio, I have had experience that the aftermarket chime module will cause issues on the network, and not allow connections.

All we did to test it, was completely unplug everything where the radio plugs into the harness, and try again. For us it worked.

Interesting info, It had an after market (cheapy) I put an unlocked OEM nav unit in it. And that is about the time I started having issues.. First had bought a junk yard unit and tried to unlock it with Tech 2 and it would not do it. put in an unlocked unit but didn't try the tech 2 for quite some time latter, I will try it when I get a chance it in now in shop for trans rebuild.

I've read that many times here--about the aftermarket radio thing.

Going to try saving back one revision on the PCMA and then back up a revision.

Fail. Still stuck. Gotta try starting over.

That is a bummer George. Are you running the SW on an old Windows PC or running in some compatibility mode?

If you are running TIS2000 in a compatibility mode, maybe you can try using the web version (TIS2web) to get the latest sw downloaded. There are YouTube how to videos out there on using the TIS2web with your Tech 2.

I am going to have to figure out how to do this or buy a new card.

Captain Dumbass strikes again! DOH! I don’t have 33.004 on the PC. How do I update to 33.004?

One way would be to do a search on YouTube for something like "updating Tech 2 with TIS2web" or some such search. There is a guy who makes a bunch of clips on using the Tech 2 with the online service. It probably means a subscription to GM's TIS2web download stuff, but I think it is pretty cheap. Not sure how that compares to a new card price wise though.
