It's in most all of Colorado, unless you're in an unincorporated area. If I need something real bad from RA, I have to have it shipped to my son's place in the county. I almost never need anything that bad that I can't get somewhere else.

It's a happy day at the Rehab-a-Hoe shop. I can say for the first time since purchasing this project in December that the count of operational deficits is ZERO. When I took her home the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree, and the to-do list was extensive.

Today the final bit was getting the cruise control repaired. Which I farmed out to my local dealer for lack of a Tech2. Entirely happy with that outcome, it turned out to be a short in the clock spring.

I'll be taking a breather from the project for a short while to take care of some other matters, and then she is going to hit the road for a summer of fun around the USA.

And just in case you're ever tempted to think you can save money buying a neglected vehicle and restoring it...

With my Circle D billet single disk 3200 I'm still getting 19.5mpg on the highway......with 3.73s

oh i'm sure i made a mistake.

but i did email them, they said with the weight of my hoe, it should flash stall a little over 2200 rpm.

Main reasoning behind my thinking about going for a higher stall was the 5.3s suck at low rpm.
but with the 6.0, i'm hoping it will give it a bit more uumph...

I also noticed that the converter appears to have an exact match to the sonnax upgrade kit for the factory converter to fix it's known flaws and weaknesses.
Ir teh like sonnax's stuff very much yes yes


when it comes down to it, this needs to haul a boat, pews to the desert, not overheat, and to last as long as possible.

You ended up with the vehicle you wanted.

I spent $12k for the pair of twins. Then another maybe $4k in repair costs, doing much of the labor myself. None of it was a show stopper, except the dead starter on theothertwin.

all in after this little project with the engine upgrade / aka tossed in the towel and needed something to cheer me up.
I'm probably looking at 15k invested into my hoe.
more than i hoped, but in the end i hope I'll absolutely love this thing.

and hopefully I'll tolerate my "Safe" converter purchase...

Just noticed when I went to pick up dinner that the drivers headlight bulb is out. It's only a year old, lol. Guess I'll be pulling the housings tomorrow and changing both bulbs.

On another note, filled up with 22 gallons of E85 today @$2.09/gal
The last 3 tanks were Mobil 93 octane from our spring break trip to New Orleans. She missed the E85, and I can feel the the difference, even at only 50% ethanol content because of still having 9 gallons of 93 left in the tank.

I’ve got some old ones in the garage that don’t work. The price to get them going again I can get new ones. I have an old nitro monster truck that I haven’t fired up since high school. Nitro was cool but pain in the ass. And expensive.

Yesterday I tackled with driver side ball joint and installed the power stop brakes. I noticed the sway bar links will need replaced. Almost 2 years old...

I didn’t take pic of the other side. By this time I was ready to be done and it was dark. But the black plastic cover was gone.

Then today I wake up sore. Went and did the break in procedure for the brakes. Then took a mini road trip to a place south of me that have some shops and such by a state Park that is a tourist spot. Brakes feel good. No longer vibrating and got some bite to it.

I still have an issue in the front driver side. Thought the ball joint would fix it. I think it’s my shock. It looks ready to be replaced. The dealer I bought it from replaced only the passenger side. Smart of them... As for the ball joint it was only 8 months old. Moog... thought they were good. But doesn’t help when the tech that installed it didn’t lube it. I replaced it with a gm part.

Told my wife about the problem and mentioned that the OE mounts are fluid filled and are pricey and that most people put the Hummer mounts in. She told me to spend the money and get the OE fluid ones I told her I didn't want to be changing them out again years down the road....lol.

On the bright side, I'm sure the passenger side mount is fine and I'd only need to change one if I go with an OE fluid one
