Finally Jumped on the Oil Catch Can Bandwagon

I was going to mention earlier...I wish my money manager (my lovely wife) would allow such purchases as a supercharger.

And I just noticed you wrapped your intake with exhaust wrap. Great idea!

I took lots of rides with the wife and kids just to get out. Usually got the stink eye when I gassed up but...

I only empty my catch can at an oil change and halfway to the next oil change. I usually only get about a shot glass worth out of it

We took up geocaching and had a blast out looking for silly things hidden in plain sight.

Yup. The temperature swing from the engine cooling after a drive produces condensation inside the engine in addition to the moisture created as a byproduct of combustion. Short drives produce moisture but aren't long enough to burn it off, so it collects in the oil in the pan. When the engine does get hot, the oily water is the first to steam off in the PCV system so it fills the catch can. In the meantime, you're pumping oil polluted and thinned by water through your engine.

Depends on what is causing the oil consumption. If it's not severely worn rings and it's the usual rocker cover design and AFM, then a catch can will help. Getting the updated rocker cover will help even more. Disabling AFM or adding the deflector to the relief valve in the oil pan would help even further. All options combined should just about eliminate oil consumption issues.

The updated rocker cover keeps the oil in the engine, which makes it the better option out of the three. But, with how cheap a catch can is, there's no reason to not get one even if you have the updated cover since the PCV system will still pass oil. IMO, I'd disable AFM before dropping the pan to install that shield. Having it disabled can be done for a little as ~$65. The labor involved in removing and replacing the oil pan, plus the ~$50 gasket makes that $65 a bargain!

I everyone's pics to do with the catch can I cannot see where it comes from. Is it rocker cover to to inlet?
I want to delete the egr at some stage,does it have anything to do with that?
