So...If it records activity around the vehicle, can I use a thumb drive in the console and store that activity ? Would the thumb drive need to be formatted before using ? It would act like a dashcam .....

Yes dash cam and also records when alarm activates.

The USB ports in my 2025 are an either or. I can't use one for music and the other to record at the same time.

You can play your music via bluetooth from your phone. This leaves your usb port available for a thumb drive. Are you connecting your phone to the truck with a cable? Or is your music on a thumb drive?
