Love this car..!
I'm soooooo happy he's taking care of it! Hopefully he'll still have it after I'm gone, and maybe pass it down to his future son. What an amazing story that would be!!

Nice. Once I had 5-6 black cars in a row. Just like you said--get dirty easy, but once clean, look amazing! I just hope this car's story will continue on once I'm goneWow! I like it!
That looks really well looked after.
Very cool story of the car and the bond you have with your son through it.

I've had it since 1996. Got rid of my GMC Typhoon for it. Had around 43-44,000 miles on it. I gave it to my son about a year ago--had 48k on it. I've had it since my son was around 5, he'll be 30 next month. Time sure does fly by![]()
I traded it because the sucker kept breaking down and getting me stuck--which was highly aggravating. Funny thing--when the GNs 1st came out I hated them, and when Typhoons 1st came out I loved them.If I had this car it would have sequential turn signal/brake lights.
Not sure i would trade a Typhoon for a GN but they are beautiful cars.
Always loved that gen regals body style.

Sad note--I had kept the original window sticker from the Ty, so I still had the vin. I looked it up 2 yrs later and found out it was totaled. It may still be out there, just with a salvage/rebuilt title, or might've been crushed. When she ran--she ran great--Fast AF--for a truck.

That sux that he lost 2--and the same type of accident too. I would've kept the 1st one--he should've just bought it back from the ins company. He most likely would've gotten a salvage title, but that wouldn't have been a big deal. Damn shame. That cat must've been really clogged to make it run that bad. Sometimes I wish I would've kept mine. It had the rack delete with the rear window spoiler and rear wiper. I kept all the carpeted mats that says "Typhoon", and the factory radio--no longer have that tho.One of my buddies has had two of them and we used to have a blast with them.
The first one was custom painted black cherry metallic, the factory GM color that they put on the '96 Impala SS and also some of the Monte Carlos. The roof rack and the door handles were shaved and the paint looked like glass.
An old woman ran a stop sign and T-***** him and they totaled it because the cladding and ground effects were discontinued and couldn't be gotten so they couldn't make it whole.
He bought another one, the second one was just factory black and 3 weeks later a woman ran a red light and T-***** him on his way to work. She had no insurance or drivers license.
He ended up doing the body work and fixing that one himself. Many years later he sold it dirt cheap because it didn't run right and he thought it was something major with the engine. Turns out the guy that bought it replaced the Catalytic converter and it ran great.
He had already moved back to Arkansas by this point so I wasn't around to check it out or help him. He offered it to me for like $2k but I would have had to figure out how to get it back to FL. and I didn't have time to mess with it at that point so I past on it... I kind of kick myself... lol
