That thing is really rough for the mileage. I just paid $19,200 for a 1500 Suburban with 80k that looks lile it's off the lot new. I would say in that condition no more than $14-15k. It needs body work and new headlights for me.

TX is your friend. If you have the truck inspected by these guys, your a$$ is covered AND you can negotiate the price down from your out of state couch.

https://texasfirstautoinspections.com

You can save enough dough to have the he truck shipped back home or, like said, flying is dirt cheap. I have a Govt buddy fly out from Europe this week for $500 round trip.

Stay away from trucks living in salted road states. Enthusiasts who know and care for their 2500 GMT900 will be your best bet. Hang on the 2500 Facebook page and post that your looking. You’ll get good feedback.

09 started w/ the 6SP trans on 2500. Take your time and you will be rewarded with patience.

Been a car guy my whole life, and bought many car/trucks. There is no possible way that is the accurate mileage. That odometer has been played with, no doubt. I have a 2013 Suburban that was a one owner, maintained with double that mileage....and my truck is near showroom condition and nothing worn! Prior owner had 5 kids which he mentioned after I got there! 5 kids and 6 years of ownership looks new in comaprision to that truck. If I lived close I love interviewing those types of sellers...its always good fun.

Texas is a killer market indeed. I would feel the same about cars from Georgia, Alabama, and so on too. Only bummer with TX is keeping an eye on sun damage (especially with car paint these days) though not as bad as FL.

While the prices are a bit higher, OR (especially West of the Cascades) is a pretty great balance of both little to no snow and low UV.

He may not show the odometer all the time but to be fair he ALWAYS tells you how much the mileage is from the get go. Even if it has 267K miles. If it was not the true mileage [what he exactly says] I am sure there would a lot of complaints online about it. If the seat has a tear he will tell you.

He will also change out the console and wheels if requested and also put the spotlights and push bar back on. Not many people will go out of their way to do all that. He also shows you all dings, scratches and the floor board even if it is in rough shape. If there is a crack on the dashboard he will show it.

If it was me buying I would have him pull all service records and have a independent [or mobile mechanic] check out the vehicle before buying it.

Since he is in Paramus N.J. [I believe that is his location] I would take the vehicle up the Garden State Parkway or I-80 for a ride for about a hour if I was seriously considering buying one of his vehicles. Route 17 is just to congested. The Turnpike would work also.

That is what I would do if I were considering buying one.

All that is just IMHO. To each their own.

As I recall some members on this forum bought from Bob and said he was a stand up guy.

Y’all excited about buying up all the old Texas flood vehicles, bless your hearts!

But for real don’t buy one near the gulf unless it’s been inspected.

Every vehicle should be inspected from top to bottom before buying. Even in my neck of the woods there are a lot of flood damaged vehicles. That usually comes from high tide and monsoon rain mixed in together which happens a lot.

I am surprised so many people buy vehicles without inspecting them or even opening the hood.

I flew to Minneapolis from Southern Indiana for my 09 2500 and I paid 13k for a LT with 215k 2 years ago. They're out there if you're willing to travel. I didn't know there was a 2500 FB page, have to check that out.

There is another fleet wholesaler out of Chicago IIRC that had some decent 2500s when I was looking.

Found it - asiamotorsinc.com

Edit again; if you have money to spend check out chicagomotors.com

I had a bad experience with private sales. So I usually buy cars from auction.
This suburban attracts me because of the spec and low mileage. But yes, the truck looks beaten and doesn't look like what the seller said.
Appreciate for all the comments. I will pass and keep searching.
Check the hours if possible. I bought an express van with 47k miles. It has 8000 hours on the engine. I didn’t know until after I bought it ..... just for reference my Yukon has 52k miles. Roughly 2500 hours on it. So when I thought I was buying a low mile van. I ended up with a van that equates to over 200k idling miles. All in all it’s a decent van but I wish I knew to look for that before hand

What year is your van? I have an 05 and I don't think mine displays the hours--unless I'm wrong.

Found a local burb 2500 lt with 128k for like 23k. Looks clean but gotdamn these prices. Really, really wish I would have had the foresight to know I'd want something with more towing before I bought my 12 tahoe.

Are the 2500's still better than, say, a yukon xl denali 1500 with tow/trailering? I'd still rather rather 6.2 vs the 6.0 if given the choice

They have a MUCH heavier frame, axles, and you really feel it. If you are going to be towing 8k alot you WANT a 2500. The 6.2 and longer wheelbase of the XL/Suburban REALLY makes a difference in the 1500. The 2500 has the 6.0 truck motor and its got lots of power.

I just got a 2008 2500 with 176k and I paid $14k for it. I had to drive 200 miles, but worth it. It is in excellent condition with only the normal issues for a 12 year old truck. (Hazy headlights, 2 worn radio buttons, etc. )
Look on the west coast, not salt used and they are popular here.

The 6.2 is an aluminum block. The 6.0 is a cast iron block. Hot rod motor vs heavy duty motor.

People get confused because the 1500 and 2500 trucks share the same body. Lift off their bodies, and you're left with two completely different trucks...

Full float axles vs semifloaters
9900-lb braking system vs 7200 lb
Torsion/leaf springs vs coils/struts
6L90 vs 6L80 transmission
Bigger/thicker frame vs well, not
Hydro boost brakes vs vacuum assist
6500-lb curb weight vs 5500-lb
39-gallon tank vs 26-gallon

So do you prefer the extra 50 HP of the 6.2,but all the weaker components, or 50 HP less, but a truck completely over-engineered and built like a brick sh*thouse? Plus, with a 6.2 and 26 gallons, you'll barely get 200 miles when towing heavy. Let me know how that works out in those big, square western states. And my 6.0 can run on regular.

It's not like 6.0 is a granny engine. 353 HP is still pretty respectable. You can see in my sig that I own both - a half-ton 6.2 Denali and a 6.0 2500. For heavy towing, I'll pick the 2500 EVERY TIME.
