How many miles? You might get away with just a slight refresh instead of a complete rebuild.

Miles? Pfft. 200K on mine and been beating on it since 146K. Cammed it, raised the compression and am now beating on it harder. There's only one way to find its limits...

Let the engine idle while I hit it with a flap disc (also radiused the edge just cuz):



Then a wire wheel to clean up the rest of it:



Then some black paint:



With engine stopped. It'll look better once the paint dries and loses the gloss and it gets as dirty as the other pulleys:

I saw that afterward as well. I'll reassess after the water pump pulley dulls down. If it still stands out, then I'll clean and paint all of 'em.

They were for the fan clutch which stopped being a thing in 04.
