When installing the tune, my instructions say to turn the ignition off, and then the AutoCal will start a countdown timer before I can resume the tuning, or start the truck.

My tune file was flashed, and as soon as it says: Ignition off NOW!, I turned off, and removed the key. But it’s never started a timer, and has been just sitting on the “Ignition off NOW!” Screen for several minutes.

Is this normal? Can I start the truck?

Been almost 40 minutes now. I connected the trickle charger.. I don’t see anything else I can do, but unplug the AutoCal, and try starting the truck..?

Huh I don't remember that feature when I had EFI live. I assume it's just to give the ECU a few seconds to reset and rethink but I'm not sure. I would probably unplug and try starting the truck.

Yup. I did. It’s actually running like shit now. BBP told me my MAF is in bad shape and needs to be replaced ASAP, so I reinstalled the stock tune and will wait until the new Delco MAF gets here Thursday. Then I’ll try again. So far I’ve never seen any kind of countdown, it just stays on the Ignition off screen forever.

Well It looks like the countdown is to give the computer a second to think.

That sucks the MAF is failing. I've never had one quit but I have been considering switching to speed density soon. That's one of the reasons I recently bought the new version of HPTuners.

Anyway I'd probably wait 1or 2 minutes to be safe and just start it as usual. With HPT I simply remove the key completely open and close the door to cycle the lights off and wait about 5 seconds before starting it after a tune write. But they never said anything about waiting I do it just because it feels right.

I have also had the truck need to sorta relearn idle after a tune write. Even if the new file had nothing to do with idle. After a couple startups it usually fixes itself.

Awesome. Thanks man. Yeah I work on computers for a living, so I know what delicate things they are. Lol. And the idle is still definitely off, stumbling a bit and almost dying a couple times, but I thought maybe that was the MAF. Although it hasn’t done it until the tune install, so I’ll bet you’re right. The tune actually seemed to pull a good deal of power, compared with the stock tune, so I suspect he did that to save from any damage I might cause with the bad MAF. Either way, Amazon is supposed to deliver it Thursday -hopefully early! I’ll get that swapped, re-flash the tune, and go from there. I need to data log again for Justin after the MAF replacement. It’s been a PITA so far, since my remote start and radio fuses have to be pulled in order for the AutoCal to properly communicate with the ECU. Oh well. Can’t wait to get her dialed in!

Hope that's all it is, Sam!
