Now I am confused. I didn't think I would need a Tech 2 for my GMT800. Or maybe only need it for certain years of that frame. There is a new one at Amazon for $319 with free shipping and comes with what looks like all the accessories. You tell me.

I have said a few times here that my plans for a tune at Black Bear is to go to Idaho and do it but if I do it here I will need the Tech 2, correct.

No, two different things. To do a remote tune with BlackBear, the AutoCal is the device used to record a data log, transfer it to your computer and flash the engine and transmission computers when they send back the updated tunes. The AutoCal can see a lot of engine functions and codes and reset them.

The Tech-2 is the tool the dealers use to work on our trucks, everything from testing lights, encoder motors, ABS brake bleeding to turning off coils and injectors along with seeing everything the computers see, programming and so much more. To keep these old girls running, a man really ought to have one to keep from wasting time and money.

First, would you look at the Tech 2 at Amazon for $318.99 and tell me if is the correct one. There are two other options listed with it for Saab and Opel. As I said, when I ran shops it was a long time ago and it was an independent shop and we had no such specialty scanners like this. Do you know if there is a certain type of Auto-Cal to get or are they all the same.

That one doesn't come with a CANdi module... if you look I think I saw one the other day for $380ish that came complete with a CANdi module...

Now I am really confused. As you go thru the pics next to the scanner there is a pic of a CANdi (module) with the attaching connectors out of each side. What am I missing?

Plus, when you scroll thru the questions answered for people this comes up:

"Yes ,mine came with the candi module as pictured in the description . It came with everything as described and functions fine on my vehicle."

Does it come with the CANdi module? It's not shown on the start up screen as being connected. Steve doesn't need one on his GMT800, but the GMT900s do need it. Going rate for a new one is about $325-350 right now.

it does come with it. I told him since he bought it so long ago I'll give him $200 and we finally agreed on $220

Has anyone checked the one at Amazon for $318.99 to see that it has the CANdi module in the pic. If I was better at this I would post a link to it.
