I dont think anyone makes those O2 simulators anymore


In a previous car of mine, folks made MIL eliminators for the cats, basically a resistor pack that would alter the signal from the o2 sensor. Does anyone do that on yuks and hoes?

I guess in Cali you'd probably get arrested for that... ;)

This is exactly why I never pursued electronics, I was supposed to learn all those color codes and I was like naw F'it, lol wish I had now

When I was in college, my degree was Aerospace Engineering and we had to take one Electrical Engineering class. The problem was it was at 7:30 Tuesday and Thursday morning and I was either hung over from drinking while watching Monday Night Football at the bars or hungover from Wednesday night being Mug night. Needless to say, I didn't get an A and I didn't really retain much.

Since then I have kicked myself for being young and stupid as I have had to relearn/learn a lot of that for my various projects & jobs.

On our work trucks in the 90’s we’d have to gut the cats in the field to get the truck home. There was no way we were going to allow a tow company access to all our HVAC equip and tools from our line of sight overnight.

The motor ran like shit and of course were loud. It upset the flow characteristics of the OE exhaust. Fast forward to the 2000’s here in Cali, I discovered that adding a cat from a larger displacement, higher performance model on one of our VW that’s supercharged woke up the motor along with it’s 1/2” increase in exhaust diam in the entire system.

It has better flow, removed a known drone @ 2800 rpm, much deeper sound without any cheap aftermarket buzz. Best of all it passes the CA Air Resource Board (CARB) visual smog test because it’s part number is VW, looks correct and bolts on. Can’t comment on any increase in performance gain as there’s no before/after dyno numbers but there’s definitely better milage and no more flat spot just before 5500rpm.

Not sure if a OE 6.2 cat would work on a 5.3 or 6.0, but they’re definitely available from a scrappy and worthy of some punishment.

I remember a saying they taught us in electronics school to help remember, and it was totally inappropriate lmao. Here goes:
bad boys **** our young girls but violet gives willingly. I doubt they still use it. (Gold and silver are left out since they’re just tolerance limits).
