I want an Escalade. If I get it my budget for performance mods will be about 6 to 7k. If I choose a Tahoe. I can do a budget of 9 to 10k. I’m stuck as I have no idea what the options are with these budgets. This would be a DD. I won’t be at the track. But I would like to match the power of the truck I’m leaving which is a Range Rover supercharged. Or a least close as I can get for my budget. I believe I can do some work but I will probably be going to a shop.

The other thing is a lot of both trucks I’ve seen have a lot of miles on them. How much is too much for these mods?

Thanks in advance.

For upgrade mods for a normally aspirated motor, I think that your mod budget would get you where you want to go. For an upgrade to a supercharged motor, your budget won't get you where you want to go.

so what I got from this is that going with the Escalade and the 6.2 and using the budget to do an na build would be the better choice. It’s hard to get a feel because there is so much contrasting info. Trying to get an idea of what the cost would be from some local shops is like pulling teeth because I haven’t picked the truck. Also if superchargers are out of my budget, does that include turbo/s?

I haven't priced turbocharger systems, but I suspect that the cost is similar to superchargers, when the cost of all of the required parts is added up. I do see some turbocharger systems listed on eBay for substantially less money than a supercharger system, but I'm not sure that I would trust them, without substantive confirmation from some installed users.

You haven't stated it, but I am assuming that you are referring to the purchase of a used Escalade. If my assumption is correct, you may well need to do some maintenance on the motor, before bolting on a supercharger or turbocharger. I would certainly recommend a top end refresh of the motor first.

Yes definitely used. As far as the refresh I figure that goes without saying based on having to get rid of the dod. Things I didn’t include like brakes are things I know I can deal with easily. So I didn’t include them in the budget. All of the turbo kits I looked at were far cheaper than a supercharger. The average price for a single was about 2400$. I could be wrong but I can’t see the extra needed parts equaling out to 8k which would be the cost of the whipple. I’m not doubting to questioning to understand. Then for a supercharger kit there is always used, but I’m still only asking questions. I don’t know how feasible buying used is.
