  • Faulty air-fuel sensor
  • Worn or internally failing catalytic converter (Most Common)
  • A leak in the exhaust system
  • Misfire (the root cause of converter failure)
  • Rich or Lean air-fuel ratio (the root cause of converter failure)
  • Leaded Gasoline (the root cause of converter failure)
. Excessive high speed driving

Pretty sure when i had my cat delete done it threw P0420 for drivers bank and P0430 for passenger bank.

In a previous car of mine, folks made MIL eliminators for the cats, basically a resistor pack that would alter the signal from the o2 sensor. Does anyone do that on yuks and hoes?

I guess in Cali you'd probably get arrested for that... ;)

I think the smog place just wouldn't pass you if they saw it, the chances of a cop looking for it otherwise are slim to none unless you had some absurdly loud exhaust system and got pulled over for it, the cops that look for modified vehicles only show up at car shows and things like that.

Tuner disabled those codes in the tune file

depends, they do impound some but I think you kinda have to piss them off first, I read about on the police blotter every once in a while, they post daily stuff on facebook here, post up video or pictures of suspects, get people to snitch etc.

I did it on my 2000 z71 back in the day. Cost about $0.45 from radio shack if you know what you're doing.
