Alright... this is the final rendition of the exhaust on the Burb.... I swear.... at least this week... lol

I ended up having them add the factory resonator back in at the tail to get rid of the awful drone it had at 60 MPH. This did the trick... no drone at 60, 70, or 80 mph on the interstate. It also toned it down a bit inside through out the RPM band although it doesn't seem that much different outside.

The best part about it was they didn't charge me for cutting and welding the resonator back in... so win, win for me.

I also have the dealer accessories optional chrome BOWTIE tip if anyone is interested check the classified section...

the thing i hate most about the resonator is looks so ugly hanging down in back like a dingleberry. Did they position it better when they re-welded it back in?

I've had mine out with a Magnaflow 12589 for a muffler and have virtually no drone.

Reposted this from the "What did you do to your truck today" thread...

I was going to post pics of each section of the exhaust but then I remembered that my SD card got corrupted and I lost all those pics. So I just posted some shots of the tip and resonator I took today.

Coming out the back kinda makes it look like it has the 6.2L... only someone from this forum would recognize that though... lol
*******

I wouldn't say it's positioned any better but, with the exhaust tip where it is, I think it's less noticeable.... plus I blacked it out with flat black paint so it is less conspicuous.

It's kinda hard to hide it unless you want the tip to come down at an angle.

Looks good. Sounds great!

Though, I have to admit.. I liked the sound better before you added the resonator back. :Big Laugh:
Buuut... since I'm not the one driving with a drone.. I can't blame you for adding it back.

So when you going to start shipping these? :biggun:

Also forgot to mention I got my new hoses made up today for my dual remote mount oil filter setup and oil cooler....

They are hydraulic lines with swivel threaded ends.

My only concern is the 212° max operating temperature but I have never seen my oil temp over 210° (after some WOT pulls) and it usually sits about 205° when idling. Probably cooler when cruising due to more airflow over the oil cooler.

I figure that the maker probably tested it to higher temps and chose a safe number to list as spec. I seriously doubt that at 213° it fails.

The guy making the hose for me told me he makes them as oil lines for tractors and stuff all the time with no issues.

Hopefully this will alleviate the very minor leak I have. It's so minor that it doesn't even leave any drips on the ground but it's enough to annoy me just knowing it's there.

Got the new 3 chamber Magnaflow XL put on the Burb today... also removed the factory resonator out by the tail pipe and replaced the factory tip with a 4" stainless tip straight out the back...

That is 3 feet of muffler there ladies and jelly spohns.
rps20190308_153050-jpg.218250

I had the same muffler on one of my trucks. Your videos make me want it on my current truck!

Big thanks to @mazdawg(Mikey) !!!

He not only allowed me to "borrow" (read steal) his idea for the door handles but he also facilitated it by sending me the precut vinyl.

Finally got around to installing them today...

Turned out pretty well I think.

That looks good. I need some vinyl for my front bow tie!

Man, that sounds like Lieutenant Bullitt's Mustang! Sweet!

Ok, so give us run down of what you did from the heads to the tailpipe again to recap.

I went back through my old posts and downloaded my old pics that I posted so I could have them on my new SD card so I figured I would repost this with pics...

This is where the factory Y came together just in front of the transmission crossmember by the transmission pan.

rps20190312_212557_127-jpg.218558
and this is where it comes together now about 2' further back just before the next crossmember.

I never would've thought that the factory resonator would have such an impact. I could BARELY tell a difference when I removed mine, but that was with the stock muffler.

Me either... but I also never would've thought the cats would make that big of difference either.... lesson learned, at least for me... lol

This is the good thing with forums such as this. People sharing the details of their mods can save someone else down the road some headache and money. I'll be going catless when I get headers, and I'm now considering adding short glasspack style mufflers to the Y-pipe in the areas where there would be cats.

lazy response riding Sam's coat tails again :whymewhyme: I think @89Suburban would prefer and more personal response. Please try again

You are correct, as usual, Sir.

My deepest and most sincere apologies go out to @89Suburban for selling you short on this answer. I was slow in my response, and Sam had already answered your question, so I very lazily just jumped onto the band wagon.

To better illustrate this phenomenon, the next time you get behind an Escalade or some other vehicle with LED tail lights at a stop light, shift your eyes back and forth rapidly while looking at the tail lights and take note of what you see.

Also, here is some more interesting info for your reading pleasure...

https://www.hidplanet.com/forums/fo...wed-through-digital-camera-camcorder-dash-cam

Basically it has to do with pulse width modulation drivers for the LEDs and the cameras 30FPS recording.

The pulses/flashes are almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

I never seen that shit before? And I watch a lot of YouTube driver fails videos. Like right now I am watching idiots on wheel's channel. I was just wondering if that was a mod you did to your lights because, besides that rippin bad ass exhaust tone, that would certainly piss people off behind you LOL!!!!! :laughing1::happy107::happy160::happy175:

Except when I hit my brakes. I have completely modified the rear lights on the Burb.

The turn signals are now combined with the reverse lights in the clear reverse lens and the original turn signal (lower red lens) is now an additional brake light and all 4 strobe when you first hit the brakes and then go solid.

And don't even get me started on the Esky 3rd brake light I modified.... epileptics beware... lol

Here is a video showing how the reverse light and turn signal work.
