2500 and the previous owner had installed some brand new Michelin 275/65/18 tires. They look real nice but rub when pulling out of the drive way. What are my options? Is this normal for these to be rubbing?

Where specifically are they rubbing? Mathematically, those tires are 32.07 inches tall which is shorter than a 285-45-22. Not sure why they are rubbing. Well, how wide are those wheels? The stock ones are 7.5".

Check your drivers door jam and see what the original tire/wheel size was.

If I'm not mistaken I believe the 2500s came with a 16" wheel. So it's quite possible that with the bigger wheel/tire that the overall height is taller.

Thanks for the reply. The receipt for the wheels says 18x8.5 8-6.5

Not sure if that tells you the width or not?

Thanks for the reply. The receipt for the wheels says 18x18.5 8-6.5

Probably 18x8.5 and the 8-6.5 means it is 8 lug with a 6.5 bolt circle or lug pattern.

The sticker I am referring to will be inside the drivers door jamb. It is the factory sticker that tells you the tire size and pressure.

It should look like this...

Here is some more interesting info to chew on...

A little over 1" wider and a little over 1.5" taller, which would only equate to .75" closer to the fenders in any direction.

It also affects your speedometer if the truck wasn't retuned to compensate for it.

The 16" wheel and tire size was standard early on and then the familiar 265-70-17 became standard. I think his problem stems from the wheel being too wide. A spacer might alleviate this as might a level or lift. If memory serves, the stock 17" 8-lug wheels are also 7.5" wide like most of the 1500s.

GM seems to have a width pattern with wheels for these trucks: 17x7.5, 18x8.0, 20x8.5 and 22x9.0.

Thanks. Where should I buy spacers from and how thick? Do you have a link by chance? Im sure les scuab will charge a arm and a leg for them. I really would like to address the issue though. I posted my door jam sticker above if that confirms your thoughts on needing wheel spacers.

You have to see where its rubbing. Spacers help if you're rubbing the frame or sway bar, which is common when running larger tires on stock wheels.

Those wheels probably have a more negative offset then stock which normally caused rubbing on the fender liner. Adding spacers in this case will make the rubbing worse. You might be able to raise the front via torsion bars .5-1" (then get an alignment)... might be just enough.

If you're rubbing the front fender liner you can trim the bumper support bracket and reshape the liner

If you're rubbing the rear fender liner, you can do a large or small "norcal fender mod" (google for instructions). When done correctly everything looks factory and you gain a lot of tire clearance. I've done this on all 3 of my GM trucks (and a few friends trucks)

Before putting the liner back on :
