I thought I was smelling burnt voice coil, but instead, I was smelling brake pad.

Now I need to take it apart and grease the slide pins and clean the hardware I guess and make sure everything is moving smoothly. Hopefully the pads are fine.

I'd have to think that plenty of owners have done this if it's an easy swap....and I'd have to imagine it is because I think the dashes/clusters between the trucks and suv's are the same.

But, I was watching a Youtube video recently about something and the guy's truck was a 2009 GMC Sierra, and the cluster bezel had more of a "depth" to it and inset to the gauges and chrome accent rings around them. It got me to thinking about maybe doing this at some point to my Yukon. Maybe just black with the chrome gauge accent rings, maybe wrap it in a carbon fiber vinyl or something.

Interesting idea. I've seen folks swap Escalade clusters in. But the bezels are shaped differently, and require some fabrication to fit. If the truck bezel is the same physical shape as the Yukon, you're halfway there. Would the odometer have to be reprogrammed? Or are the miles stored in the ECU or BCM?

Not talking about swapping the entire cluster. Just the plastic bezel piece that goes in the front of it.

(just a pic I stole from eBay just now)

Mind you, I haven't really looked into whether it would even work. I think the dash and clusters are virtually the same in all the GMT900's regardless of truck or SUV (Escalade models excluded), but I don't know this to be certain. Just a thought I had when I was watching that Youtube video earlier.

mileage/hours, oil usage, etc is stored in the cluster

You will notice that these are marked as fitting a 2014 Corvette C7...

That alone should make the Burb faster...

Not to mention how many HP the Stage 8 sticker is worth... lol
cool, that should help, when I had headers they would come loose, wish someone would make headers that had more coverage when mounted, but no they have to make them with barely enough room to maybe not leak.

I hate the Stage8 locking bolt design with those damn C-clips.

I had them on my mustang but switched to some Split-Lock design I believe made by Breslin (think they sold design to some other company now). The Split-Lock design has a split threaded part of the bolt and uses an allen type screw in the center that spreads the bolt when tightened after installed.

How did they hold up to all the heat cycles? Would you be able to use the Allen key after all that time to take the bolts out? If you ever had to.

Yes, the center screws are stainless I think and before installing I unscrewed them and put anti-sieze on them and have never had a problem. I've been using them on my supercharged, heads, cam, intake 302 since about 2006 and have never had a problem removing them. It's not daily driven though, mostly track use and some cruises during the summer, and is kept in the garage.
