It's getting to be that time where I address the suspension again on this heap and starting to toss around around going to a coilover set up :hmm:

Thanks to a push in the right direction by @yates ™ I think I already have a solid lead on a solution. Gonna grab some measurements this weekend and should have a quote for a kit to convert the front to coilover by Monday. :popcorn:

What kit are you planning on going with?
This will stay at the same height or to go a little lower or higher?

Goal is the same height. I'll know more details on the kit after I get the measurements and all that.

What brand? I want to do coil overs and get rid of magnaride but can’t decide on going up to 4” or staying at 2.5”

You’ve had this for so long I’ve read about you doing your suspension 3 times now I think. I wish you’d try a level and 32/33s [emoji16]

Atomics kit? Viking coil-overs?
I believe the kits are all the same its the height/lengths of shock and rates that are different.

Actually yes on both. Just submitted my order with him this morning. Hope to have the stuff in a week or and then install after that. Cannot wait to feel the improvement of handling. Considering the price of the setup this thing should trump everything to this point :)

Atomic put the package together and said he’s got Viking C207 with a 10" 850lb spring in the package. Double adjustable for height and for dampening rate

Bilstein. For now I’m gonna hang on to them “just in case”. Also still have my stock spindles stashed away lol

Remind me what drop you are running.

I was curious about the Bilsteins with my 4/6. I don't really care for how soft the Belltech struts are. I was looking at different options to stiffen the front end up a bit.

I was curious about the Bilsteins with my 4/6. I don't really care for how soft the Belltech struts are. I was looking at different options to stiffen the front end up a bit.
Front is spindles with the Bilstein. I keep the first page of my build thread updated with part numbers so the part number is listed there. The spindle is just a 2” drop but take a look at how the struts are bolted to the lower arm. I’m at about 3-4” of drop....

I thought about bolting the struts in that way but with having the Belltech adjustable struts I figured there was no need.

I have been looking for something stiffer and have narrowed it down to three.

The Monroe 39106 which is for the PPV.

The KYB monomax 564004 which is supposed to be 40% firmer than stock. OR
The Rancho RS999784 which has a knob for adjusting the dampening/rebound.

I was thinking of getting one of the above and then getting the lowered spring seat/perch from Mcgaughys to get that extra inch.

I have been thinking of lifting the front up an inch anyway because at 4" in the front the lower air dam sure does take a beating. So maybe between my 2" spindles and bolting up the struts the way you have yours I wouldn't need the new spring seats.

Also I just went back and looked at your mod list. It appears you used to have the Belltech struts/shocks. Why did you change them out and what kind of difference did it make in the way the truck rides/handles???

Yeah, I used to have them. I changed them out for the same reason you're thinking of changing yours out. The ride quality wasn't there. At first, they were fine and i was happy but I'm wondering if that's because I went from worn out old shocks to new ones so I was happy just because they were better than the old worn out ones I had LOL After going with them for a couple of years it was time for a change. These Bilsteins are good and I would recommend them to anyone. I'm just ready to step it up a level and make things even better. Eventually like I'd do put coilovers on the rear, too, but so far I've not tracked down anyone with a kit.

Are you still using the air ride? If not start with some matching adjustable shocks out back.
It's already set up pretty nice with 4/5 link, spring on axle and both shocks behind.
Load capacity would be the biggest problem with a coilover.
