Unplugging tonight. I hate the voltage change. Old school thinking in my brain says something is wrong

Does this keep the voltage around 14 even at idle? I had a buddy unplug it on his 13 sliverado and his dropped to 12.6 during idle.

I don't have any type of audio or electronics but my headlights and interior lights dim quite a bit at idle.
I notice my volts drop a bit while driving to.

I installed two XS batteries figuring this would help.
Then, I thought it may be my alternator. Could it be?
Or, would unplugging this do the trick?

Thanks

Alt output drops at lower rpm but not that much, when the alt is about to crap out is when it really starts dropping....if you have to keep it revd up to stay around 14v something is wrong, alt going bad, batt going out, loose wires. First thing i used to do in all my plow trucks was to run a 10ga wire direct from alt to pos on battery it always kept steady voltage... as opposed to going thru factory bs splices and long runs around the engine bay...
