Tint is my next mod. What percentage do y'all have? I am thinking about just matching the front with the factory in the rear. Any one know what that percentage is?

I run 5% over the factory in the rear with 20% up front and a big 5% banner on the windshield. I do want to get the whole windshield wrapped in 35% again though that was so nice during the summer time

The tint shop will tell you what % to match they have a tint meter. On my truck they tinted 20% on the front side windows to match the rear and it looks good.

The only answer anyone should ever put on the internet is "Whatever tint is at or below the legal percentage limit", otherwise they'd be publicity admitting to having a vehicle that not legal to use on public roads (so I guess the show car only guys could talk about darker tint,,, because there are so many new Tahoes/ Yukons that are off-road use only show cars out there).

Basically if you see a car with the front windows tinted to match the back, safe bet its illegal and gives LEO's justifiable probably cause to pull you over whenever they like.

With that said, plenty of people have ran "illegal" window tint for decades without issue. Just talk with the tint shop, most have a little display glass of the various percentages of tint and most know what's legal and what's not.

I wouldn't bail out my own kids if they did something stupid, posted on the internet "hey I did something stupid", then got busted for doing said stupid thing,,,so no.

I'm no angel (I may have even lost my drivers license a few times when I was younger for doing stupid things), but putting out on the internet (that never forgets and is always searchable) that you're intentionally breaking a law sure seems silly.

ya i gave up that ghost way back when I was running a screaming 14.4kbps modem online. my mug shot is online, meh f-kit IDC anymore
my police record started at about age 7, FBI file before i was an adult, i'm sure the local pd has bigger fish to fry than worrying about my driving infractions.
I even blatantly have no front plate in my profile pic! GASP

I was stationed in Commiefornia back in the mid to late 2000s, they took my drivers license for "exhibition of speed", meaning I didn't actually break any speed limit, I just got to the speed limit to quickly in their opinion.

And I had to file SR22 insurance to get my license back (which is way expensive for a single male that owns sport bikes). No accidents, no injuries, no alcohol or other drugs involved ever, but good ole Commiefornia sure threw a hurting at my wallet. I thought they would have better things to do other than punish a victimless crime too ,,, I was wrong.

for as many tickets I have had for a variety of things including multiple instances of illegally tinted windows we are not yet at the authoritarian point of where the judge is going to search your name up online and read your internet postings and nail you to the wall. they just put there hand out and say pay me! and you are off on your way.
the fine here is about $200 which is about the same amount it would cost to have it removed, get a write off on the ticket and then have the tint re-applied.
**** it, I have had like 3 tickets for window tint in the last 25 years I'll live.

This is exactly what I have on my rig. Abd I have NEVER been pulled over for my window tint. I've had other cars in the past that had 20% tint all the way around, and I have been pulled over several times because of the tint. But in the 19 years I have been driving my Suburban, not one single time.

If you ever break a more serious law, say someone runs out in front of you and you mow them over with your car.

Then the ambulance chasing lawyers for the deceased family will have no issues showing your blatant disregard for the law and habitual negligence on your part .

You've heard of character witnesses in court, yeah most civil case lawyers (civil cases, you know where they're just after your money and they don't even fake it that they're after justice) have a network of "experts" they pay to be character witness against the people they're trying to bleed money from.

Five minutes on internet searching and your restitution costs just went up,,, way, way up.

throw the key away and I can work it off at .10 cents an hour, hopefully something terrible like that never happens.
maybe they should have looked first like we get told as children.
even though I have done some stupid shit I do have "some" common sense when operating a motor vehicle otherwise I wouldn't be alive still.
my above stint was in the middle of the night in a 5 lane with no one around except by dumb luck........ a pd

I usually go with 20% but it doesn't look that good if you have a light color interior.
I have a couple that are 5% and if there's no lights around you can't see a thing at night.

Mine was tinted over the stock tint. Couldn't see at night, so I took it off.....peeled off pretty easily. Much better now.

We used 20% ceramic on the front sides, and I believe 80% ceramic on the windshield and sunroof panels. The ceramic is beneficial for uv protection but we didn't want the front tinted for visibility.

My old work truck was 5% all around at 15% on the windshield. It was awesome.. i miss that. Thinking of getting the same treatment for the ppv.

My old ‘07 2500 Silverado had 3% all around.. couldn’t see “in” OR “out” the damn thing lol.. forget driving at night. It was too much. Got stopped by a law man for driving in the grass (i honestly didn’t know it wasn’t allowed) by the boat launch. Truth is, i was actually trying not to stop because it was wet grass and i felt the truck bogging down so i didn’t want to get stuck.. as i pulled out the grass he pulled in front of me head-on with the berries flashing. Gave me a written warning, didn’t even blink twice at the tint so… ?

Whoever had the truck before me tinted all the rears 5%, which I love and just tinted the front doors to match . I want to make the whole windshield 35% next but I'm concerned about night driving. I already can't see if there's anyone in the crosswalk if I'm making a left turn and have to put the window down. I may leave that for when the truck is no longer my daily.

50% full windshield may be an ideal move for you. You could always add a 5% strip along with it to help with the sunlight glare. I have several friends who have had both 35% and 50% windshields and none of them recommend 35%. They say daytime driving is great but nighttime is borderline dangerous, especially in rural areas where there are few lights.

5% fronts, 20% over the rest of the factory tint all matches well!
