It's in a freeze out plug? You could always yank it completely out and put in another plug--or do like you said and just remove the connector.
Tony beat me to it. Does look like a block heater. IMO, if that engine is going to be put in your rig, I would change out all freeze/welch plugs.
It has a hex on it, bet it's threaded.

My L9H has this, it's the block heater. In my opinion, I'd let the heater stay where it is and lose the connector unless you would want to use it in the future. It's nice to have a block heater in cold winter areas.

Just make sure it is not a cheap one that could leak or rust out. They can be handy.

I would. I used to live in Pa, on a mountain. COLD!!
I think it's this one. Also said made in China.
I may just take it off, they're cheap enough and looks like it can be easily installed with the engine in the car should I need one.

HA! I literally lived on a mountain in the, down an actual dirt road in the Poconos. It wasn't a huge mountain, but I did have to go up a mountain to go home. I lived in E. Burg for around 5-6 yrs, and I still worked in Newark. Helluva commute. Many a time I drove home in the snow where I was pushing the snow with my bumper because it was so high--and it was cold AF. Didn't mind the cold tho...

is that on the passenger side or drivers side? If my L9H has it I may use it in here if winter is bad this year.

I put a block heater in my v6 2002 explorer some years ago. Stop laughing. It goes under the topic of "why not?" If I can just run an extension cord out and leave it on until I use the thing, and it starts easier and warms up faster, then sure its worth the 20 bucks I paid for it. Yeah it was a freeze plug heater, but worked great. A lot of places say to stick it on a timer. So, what I did was programmed a manual timer off/on every 4 hours. You'll burn it out if it's on 24/7.
The 6.2’s didn’t come with factory block heaters? I was deciphering the RPO’s on my 6.0 and saw it had one from the factory so I went out and found it. I have never used it though.
None of mine did. Can’t say that I’ve ever wished I had one.
I believe the nbs have them on the passenger side and the nnbs have them on the drivers side. works just like a cup warmer
