Is the adjuster you are tapping the height adjustment? Or are you tapping the forward/back adjuster to free the height adjustment?

That's the rear height adjuster, if the front one is the culprit you scoot the seat back and look in front. If you take the side panel off you can sorta see the assembly. 3 electrical motors in a row with fairly long axles going to plastic casings that lead to the respective screws. Inside those cases is a plastic worm gear and a plastic cog that may shear off due to poor material choice. If so the symptom is an empty whirr instead of a click. Saw a long comprehensive video about it yesterday.

Believe it or not, my comment about the groom was that it's very short for a proper Aussie groom. But during the summer we keep it shorter for her comfort and in that pic it's grown out a bit. I won't post a pic of it now after I cut it even shorter on Saturday...

After my first long drive, I have to say I'm really pleased with the mount. I managed to squeeze down on the arms with enough ugga-duggas that the phone pretty much doesn't move at all, unless I'm driving over RR tracks. Part of my euphoria was that I wasn't used to having a view of the map always available in my peripheral vision. But I'd also added a new Bluetooth transceiver that plugs into the AUX port on the head unit. No more transmitting media via FM radio. Much better sound quality. It feels like a new truck, ha ha.

On that note, I need to clean up the wiring a bit. Does anyone know of a micro cig lighter USB charger that includes an on/off switch? The lighters stay powered with the ignition off, so I have to physically unplug my USB adapter every time I shut down, which is kinda annoying. All the ones I've found are either huge, unswitched, or intended to replace the lighter altogether by hardwiring into the dash. Actually, that last option is a possibility. Can anyone confirm one of those (like link below) will fit in the existing holes?

Did you look into a new radio that had a wireless connection for Bluetooth, gps, phone…etc?

What about the USB plug inside the center console?

you'd be surprised, these button batteries are a huge problem with kids. we just didn't have anything that took them when we were growing up. sends tons of kids to the hospital and messes them up good.

orbeez and small magnets are as bad if not worse, my daughter swallowed some orbeez but luckily they were the very small ones and she never showed any ill effects, we are not even sure how she got them, I think another kid had them at school or something and gave her some in a bag.
you have to be mindful these days, that ryans-world kid on youtube with all the "slime" crap sold in stores I would pull off the store shelves if it were possible, god that stuff is complete crap and god forbid you get it on anything and/or let it dry out.

I agree to a point. And I’m glad to hear your daughter’s situation was not worse. But where do we stop at protecting the little people? We put bitter coating on batteries so it deters them from putting it in their mouth hole trying to prevent a sudden catastrophic incident. But so many shove sugary drinks, and food right in there on a daily basis all while getting bombarded by marketing that encourages this.
I mean do we ban #57 limestone and air pods because they are choking hazards… And yes I understand being cautious with items that the little people play with but it’s also up to the people that spawned these tax write offs to not just throw a iPad at them and ignore what is in their surrounding area.

I've read enough to know a new head unit would be a hassle to install with all the cables and dodads to get steering wheel controls and rear controls to work. Plus the expense is a little steep just for improved connectivity.

I may wire power to the console USB. But I'd still want it switched. So I either have to move the source to ACC power, or add a switch. It would seem easier to just retrofit switched USB outlets to the dash power outlets and be done with it. Less clean, but less work. Knowing me, I'll do it the easy way and then get tired of looking at the wires and redo it so it's all hidden.

I can tell you’ve never had kids. If something is so easy as putting a bitter coati on it and it ends up saving even one life of someone’s baby, why in the world would it bother you? Does it bug you that they started putting a bittering agent in antifreeze so animals don’t drink the sweet tasting glycol that will kill them too? And I don’t get the connection between the choices people can make regarding what their kids eat and drink and consumer safety. One is free choice. The other is just common sense safety to make corporations responsible for the products they make billions of dollars off of because we all know they don’t do it voluntarily. There’s so much crap being invented lot brought to market nowadays that parents never had to deal with before and these mega corporations are raking in the cash while not giving a crap whether or not their stuff kills kids. Water beads are just one example. They can swell 100-400x their original size, unlike Orbeez. One of the larger ones can kill a young one and they too look like candy.

You are absolutely right. I quit using nicotine pouches after my toddler that has been watching me pop the things into my mouth tried to do the same to a random pouch on the ground at a parking spot. They are smart but they watch what you do too.

I think the little bags of desiccant that are in packaging should not say do not eat on them, I mean who buys a clock radio and thinks they’re going to get a snack inside… So if you’re for a free choice why can’t I have a choice to buy an item that is possibly not safe for a child, that should be my choice to decide that. The diabetes/obesity epidemic that is affecting young people for the profit of the food manufacturers and then the pharmaceutical companies to make record profits I think is a huge issue, but because I like free choice and there are other choices I’m actually OK with that because again that is the choice of the parent to feed the little people inferior products.

I ran out of weekend before running out of weekend projects. I fixed the armrest vinyl today. As you can see, the vinyl had shrunk in the heat and pulled away from the corners. Rather than replace it, I just trimmed it back to just below the rim and used a heat gun to carefully stick the corners back down. If it peels again, I'll replace it.

It’s just thin strips of butyl. I’ve used a larger variety for years ever since I learned auto glass in the 70’s. The big stuff is about 5/16” diameter and was used to install windshields with. Not they’re all bedded in urethane instead but the butyl rolls are still available. It’s super handy stuff.

It's not "just" butyl, and in fact butyl makes up less than a third of it. A substantial portion is filler to make it more substantial (i.e. give it "body"), so it's not interchangeable with the variety you'd use for glass. See the MSDS excerpt I've attached.

Thanks. Honestly, I had my doubts when I ordered it several years ago. But once I got all the pieces done, it really coordinated well with the ebony interior. That particular piece is getting a little tired looking. In person it's okay. But the photos really highlight the scuffs from where I sometimes haul long items inside and forget to put a cloth down to protect it. I have some wrap left (3M CF12 if you're curious). So I may redo it anyway.
