Just got back from the burbs 2nd road trip. Getting further and further out while I build trust. Had ~700 miles round trip. Still not very far I know, but I might take it to TN in a few months hauling 5-6k so I wanted to ensure she was stable.

Got her a wash yesterday on the way home. Needed it. Even though there was some crazy rain on Saturday as we traveled, it didnt get all the muck off.

I watched my status along the way, and everything seems right down the line. I'm getting a little lifter noise here and there, but not consisent so I'm not sure whats up.

I've still got another day vacation today, and I'm at the dealer getting the trans serviced. I think I might stop at autozone on the way home and get some gear oil and do the differentials.

I did the rear end finally. I had to use a 12mm socket on the rusted 13mm bolts tapped on with a hammer to get them off. I also used a propane torch to help loosen them up. The new Amsoil containers are awesome! Installed new stainless bolts.

Yeah FYI those covers apparently are a special order item from dealers and big box auto parts stores. Plan accordingly; I ordered that one from RockAuto.

These are the bolts I ordered. I would order them them slightly longer.

Hex Serrated Flange Bolt 18-8 SS - 5/16-18 x 5/8" (FT) , $11 for 25

I would get 3/4” length ($18.25 for 25) if I had to do this again even though my 5/8” long ones barely fit well.

Found where a coolant leak was coming from. Anyone know what this part is? Can’t find it anywhere. Located in front part of engine under engine cover. Rubber hose connects to radiator.

Hit a piece of wood with two LARGE nails at 30 MPH yesterday lucky no damage. barely cleared the air dam..
Tires are ok

SUV after all
I did some OFF WOODING lol


I was able to avoid the much larger piece That would have torn off the bumper or air dam for sure


she still drives True and straight..

3/4” wont be too long? Was gonna get the ones from the chevy dealer i work at until he told me they were about $4.80 each my cost wtf...

The OEM bolts are longer than 5/8. I bought 5/8 as that is what the spec is but the OEM ones are like 1” but have threads to about 3/4. I need to dig them out of the trash and measure accordingly or you can pull one out and measure. Note that the OEM ones have the long unthreaded part at the end like the body bolts; pilot end? I can’t think of the name of that feature.

The older style used special gaskets (GM part number 12551933) that I've only been able to find at the dealer or online OEM parts suppliers. Dorman #56390 is the same. The newer stuff uses an O-ring. I had an assortment of Viton O-rings from Harbor Freight and used four that fit. I say four cuz there are two at the front and two at the back. On your motor, the two at the front are connected with that pipe and the two at the back are just block-offs.

Underside of those pieces. Use a pick or tip of knife to peel out the old O-ring, clean the metal, then slip on the new O-ring. Tighten the bolt to 106 in. lbs., or .37 grunts.

This is a pic of one of the rear ones used as a block-off. The front is the same except it's connected to the other side with that tube.
