Probably an actuator. The rear is easy to diagnose, just pull the interior panel and remove the actuators. Then you can operate them by hand.

Im gonna flush my power steering fluid, and check my antifreeze today. If I have time I will look at those too.

I did not, I could not find any instructions that mentioned anything about the rear. I figured opening it up and resetting it to the middle setting like new actuator would do the trick.

So I just did the motor medic flush, ran fine with the flush in there, drained it and it was pretty dirty. Figured I should probably rinse it out, so I bought 6 quarts of super tech and a super tech filter. Ran it for about 20 minutes and the oil was a little dirty,not bad though. Ran fine.
Then I put in 5 quarts of GTX high Mileage full synthetic, and a quart of lucas, and now it won't start. No codes on the scan tool. Seems like it isn't getting either spark or fuel. I have no idea what I could have done.

Guess I better put some gas in it. The needle has been on E, but I thought I just had it on there wrong after swapping the cluster. Was waiting for the low fuel light to come on so I could adjust it.

It's crazy that we shut the key off right as it ran out of gas before changing the oil.
I also flushed the power steering it was black. This is it in the clear container. The syrofoam is oil samples from both times. Turkey pic for fun, and to make you guys forget I ran out of gas and thought I broke my truck lol

The timing is nearly impeccable, but it's not so far-fetched. The pump pulls fuel from the tank and fills a bucket that the pump itself is inside of, and it feeds the engine with the fuel in that bucket. So, if the fuel level in the tank is right at the minimum for the pump to suck it up through the bottom of the bucket (through one-way disc valve), it could fill the bucket and run on that for a short time while the tank is essentially empty. If you shut it off during this time period, and if the disc valve isn't 100% sealed, the fuel would drain out of the bucket and back into the tank. But, the tank level won't be high enough to reach the bottom of the bucket the next time you turn the key and the system attempts to prime. You must've shut it off during that time when it was running on the fuel in the bucket, which is probably about a quart, maybe a little more.

Since it was empty, put in 13 gallons and put the needle right on the half-full mark. If your level sensor is working as it should, this will make your gauge about as accurate as it could be, short of measuring impedances and/or voltages.

Well at least I know my message center doesn't work! I filled it up today with 31.7 gallons. Do the XL's have a bigger tank? It is just above full a little bit, and it was just below empty when I added it. I might end up sending this cluster out for a rebuild, it has 423k on it.

I forgot about the big bodies with the 31-gallon tank. The shorties have a 26-gallon tank, which is why I said to add 13 gallons. Starting from a drained tank is an opportunity to check your gauge and basing it off the half mark is about the best starting point.

I feel like it was probably pretty close, and I know not to push It on E from now on. I just figured it was off because the low fuel light hadn't came on. I was already worried I would ruin the truck with the engine flush, so when it wouldn't start I instantly went to worse case scenario. I'm ready for the alignment so I can put some miles on it and see what breaks next.

Gave her a good scrubbing; it was in the mid 50s and sunny most of the day, perfect weather. Didn't dry too fast. But I can't compete with @Sam Harris so I've given up -- clean is fine! Also washed the Fusion.

i picked up a gas power washer and a foam cannon and then got adams mega foam car wash. and then it got cold out and im lacking the time to use it all. trucks a dirty mess. ss would look clean to most people, but its also filthy lol
