My 20 year old blower motor was occasionally chirping, I assume because the bearings were at end of life, so I changed out the assembly with an aftermarket part. We’ll see how long this one lasts. Not too bad of a project: only took about 20 minutes to swap.
Lining up those tabs can be a pain

Finished up the 4wheel brake job, I know I am slow, but I am the cheapest mechanic.

Also replaced the parking brake shoes, prolly didn't need to but what the heck.

While I was under there I noticed my rear diff is leaking from the pinion. Going to take to the shop for that one.

Also anybody have a better way of getting oil into the diff. I use this pump, it's okay but only takes an hour or so to fill...

they sell gear oil in a bag now, but it costs more, the pro tip of the day is, buy one bag, and re fill it with oil from the plastic jug. keep the bag for future use.

Yeah I'm not crazy about squeezing a bag for fourty forevers though, seems like your hands would get tired.

I got one of these, got all kinds of good reviews. Makes a big mess, wouldn't buy again.

I ordered this, maybe it will work. If not I'll try the bags (and resuse them:))

Wife was going to take my escalade this morning and she remote started it because its only 9*F outside currently.

Well we could hear the truck screaming from in the house. So I went and took a short video.

I won't bore everyone with the diag, but it turned out to be the new ac tensioner I installed back in March. The bearing in the pulley felt gritty, so I opened it up and the "grease" was trying to freeze. It was like a slushy in the bearing. So I cleaned the bearing out, re-packed it with good grease and now the noise is gone.

Hopefully this helps someone, I know ow I sure as heck wasn't expecting a pulley to be making this noise.

Did not do anything today with the 03 Z7 Tahoe; Yet..

Got to open an early Christmas present….

IMG_0850.jpeg
Tahoe went into reduced power mode recently with the following codes:

P2135
P0120

Read about various relearn procedures.

What is the preferred method?
Manual (run 3 minutes; turn off for 1 minute & repeat) or an electronic reset via scan tool.

I can get access to a Tech 2 clone.
Don’t have it in hand though. Can anyone tell me what menu the procedure is buried in?

03 Tahoe Z71 w/ 5.3

Thanks in advance.

Couple more maintenance items on my denali today.

Few years ago my door handle lever broke so i bought a dorman handle for parts. Use the lever and spring. Well the lever was sloppy and the spring broke within a year. So got a couple junkyard handles to use for parts to rebuild mine. Note if you pop the plug off the door you can lube the spring to keep it from rusting.

Also changed all 3 trans cooler lines. I cut out the crimped sections years ago to solve leaks. We'll one line that's not rusty at all got a super small rust spot and pin hole up by the starter and it was just starting to weep. It would leave a 12" circle of fluid after a drive. Instead of trying to splice the line I just replaced all with acdelco lines. Not a bad job at all. Couple hours all in.

I meant to hose it down with some nhou oil while I had the grill off, but totally forgot. Ill try and get to it tomorrow.

But yes the ps coolers rot pretty bad I've replaced quite a few of them.

I deleted my ps cooler years ago. I just looped the hoses iirc. No issues.
