Blackbear has tuned this one for me already, and I asked them to tune it for towing. It doesn't hunt, really.
It's just that when the topography looks more like a sine wave than a pancake,
it translates to downshifting every other mile as it has to keep speed on the climbs.
If I run in 5th, it rarely ever needs to shift. I've read over the years that this is perfectly acceptable practice, until now.
The stuff you read over the years never accounted for the possibility of aftermarket tuning;
more than likely what you read pretended aftermarket tuning was nonexistent.

It is 'perfectly acceptable', but tuning would be superior.

But that’s what I’m saying. It *is* tuned for towing duty. It holds a higher gear as long as possible. When it downshifts it’s because it ain’t got no more ass to give without more RPMs.

Thought you said
It’s most comfortable in 5th, and can hold it up most mild-moderate grades,
so I hold it there to keep it from hunting when we’re driving over the piedmont areas of the blue ridge.
Lots of up/down on I-64 west of Richmond.
I've never driven there before, only you (and your tuner) would know for sure
if this particular part of the journey can be addressed by 'fine-tuning' so that you would not need to hold it in 5th yourself.

Put another way ...
It *is* tuned for towing duty. It holds a higher gear as long as possible.
When it downshifts, it’s because it ain’t got no more ass to give without more RpMs.
My version of a Tow / Haul mode would not hold a higher gear 'as long as possible', and would downshift sooner,
slightly before 'it ain't got no more ass to give without more RpMs'.

Admittedly, this could require more than one or two tries to get it right.
As I said before, I've admitted that I didn't always give the customer quite what they were hoping for on the first try.
I also said
I'm aware that there are certain situations where you'd still prefer to use Manual-5.
If you're happy with what you got from your tuner, pop the bubbly.
I'm just saying that if you want a lil pepper(corn) or Parmesan, you'd not hesitate to ask,
except maybe if you didn't know they were available in the first place? (Unless they ran out?)
Even if you're pretty happy with slightly less toppings, you should be able to ask for more if that'd make you more happy.

I keep thinking about selling this because I am going to lose my garage across town later this year and I'll then be trying to park 5 cars in 2 spots especially when 2 of those are crew cab trucks. Then I go and drive it and I don't want to get rid of it anymore. I'm attached to my Duramax (it is also slated to get a 10spd Allison conversion in the near future) and the other half is never going to part with her truck so tomorrow I'll start the whole process over again in my head.

Front struts today… id say mine were toasted….did new oem springs on oem struts since springs were cheap enough and got my ride height back up and now I dont have to listen to the tire rub the fender liner when i back out of the garage anymore

Getting that little purple lock out of the connector was the hardest part.

Finally found a decent set of Escalade side view mirrors for a decent price and installed. Plug and play. I'll post a picture after I paint the silver trim piece.

Esky mirrors are honestly my favorite upgrade i've done to our burb. They make such a huge difference in terms of visibility. GM really should have gotten slapped for the mirrors they put on these from the factory when they had something in the parts been that actually gave you some real visibility

This as well as Brembos, have been my favorite. The oem brakes are criminally under powered, imo.

Replaced the front and rear differential fluids a few minutes ago at 51000 miles. When I pulled the rear differential plug I stuck my little finger in there and could NOT touch any fluid. No leaks! So under filled from factory? Fluid was black and thick.
Front was filled to the top and dark but not bad.
The last fluid I need to change is brakes but pollen was getting to me so that will be later this week.
We head out on a 30 day road trip next week.

The DIC* lies!
Just drove 2575 miles to Canada and back for a fishing trip. Actual hand calculated mileage in Canada was 21.1 MPG due to lower speed limits (not 22.1). And actual US mileage was 18.1 (not 20.7) due to 75-80MPH highway speeds.

Fixed a dash squeak that has been intermittent since I bought it. Researched how to take the dash apart and the whole thing. But before I did that I looked under the right fuse panel to see anything obvious. My finger is pointing at a bolt that required two turns to snug up. ;( probably loose since the build date of April 2019.

Those are some of the most satisfying fixes.
I need to take apart the knee bolster area under my steering wheel and find whatever is rattling/squeaking myself.
