That’s a thought. Would I need to take the seat cover off to check that?
Sometimes you get lucky by checking under the seat. Others may be able to be more specific where the most probable point would be.

I've had both the BCM and HMI done by WAMS. Everything works flawlessly... very useful.
I just bought a HMI today and going to send it to wams when it gets here for a full unlock and 2023 maps. bought the gps+tv one, mine is io6 but only has onstar nav.
all I need is the hmi programmed and the gps antenna is on the way from china for $10. then I should be good to go with a few more features I don't have without having to go with a aftermarket head unit. I don't think the onstar nav has a gps antenna but if it does the antenna I bought was only $10 so no biggie.
what did you have them do to the bcm?

I have a 2016 Yukon XL Denali so for the HMI, I mainly did it for video in motion and to have the rear camera activated while driving, etc. The rear camera in motion for the SUVs is different that the trucks so I had to modify some of the wiring in the liftgate and camera but I was aware of that hurdle. The HMI still needed to have that enabled so I can select it while driving.
I think the other few items for the HMI unlock were: Nav Entry in motion as well as DVD/Bluray and Video Files from any USB Storage media type, Access Videos from USB Storage using the Media Button, etc.

As for the BCM, it was unlocked for:
Fog lamps remain on with High Beam
Fog lamps no longer disable Intellibeam
Fog lamps remain on with Intellibeam/Auto High Beam enabled
Tap to pass (turn signal activation) bumped up from 3 to 4 flashes
Windows down from key fob changed to Driver and Passenger front Windows only
Window down from key fob changed to allow “Vent” setting (release key fob to stop window motion prior to complete lowering)
Driver (and passenger on utilities) window UP from key fob (hold lock to raise)

I see, I just used a fleece all lights on resistor module for $20 to keep the fogs on with highs or flash to pass
i'm to fidgety with the remote in my pocket to have window functions enabled, I would probably come out in the morning to discover my windows were down and some clown ransacked it or it rained or something ridiculous....
I'm mostly doing it for the nav function if needed and video in motion for the kids to watch something if we roadtrip somewhere
my out of pocket cost is $385.00
kind of poked around trying to find the right dvd/bluray drive but havent narrowed it down yet I think it needs a harness also but not a big deal 99.999% of any video is going to be on a thumb drive or card anyway

has anyone had the WAMS full HMI unlock done? just curious about how seemless the functionality is aftwards
I used a different website but only added apple car play to my 2015. They offered pretty much all the same stuff as WAMS but I was being cheap and didn’t want the extra stuff. They also threw in 2019 or 2020 maps I think (which is outdated at this point)

Overall, it maintained a stock look and functions as expected. No glitching or lag. I’ve had it for about 3 years now.

thanks I was mostly concerned with the video in motion and perhaps having to do some rigamorrow function to keep it working while driving or something which can get annoying real fast. Otheriwse it should work just like oem does. If I was going to go aftermarket the unit I have been looking at is like $1,000
with a motorola ma1 I get wireless AA on the stock radio and I can just unplug it if I don't want to use it so it all works for me just fine
already upgraded the speakers and a couple amps can't complain.

@CMoore711

I did upgrade the bulbs to LED, 6000k xenon white that I got from Amazon. The stock bulbs felt too dim to me.

The tint is from Lamin-X, and yeah it feels like vinyl, they have a variety of colors but I like the "old school" yellow. The film seems really durable too and is super easy to put on. I didn't have to remove the fogs either.
Which led’ s did you choose?

Figured I’d check in here to offload my latest maintenance/upgrades. I bought it at the end of November, and have been doing upgrades and maintenance every week or so since. This forum has been incredibly helpful with my maintenance and modifications - many thanks to all who contribute here!

Replaced engine oil, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and fluid in both diffs with amsoil products. Installed a transmission thermostat bypass.

Replaced tires with Nokian Outpost nAT in 275/70/18 size.

Replaced the headlights with Phillips LED headlight bulbs.

Replaced spark plugs and wires with ac delco plugs and wires.

Tuned with a Superchips F5 flashpaq. Just running the 87 performance map for now. I’ll be trying the 91 map soon.

Installed a corsa sport exhaust.

Installed a set of 3dmaxspider mats.

That’s it for now.

Today was the first time I missed the my old rig; I learned the short body cant take a 4X8 sheet of wood. Luckily it was a thin veneer sheet that flexed up over the top of the front seats. So what is the ususal strat here for plywood sheets - a bungee or something ?

So true - my fogs are most of my low beam visibility. My brights are fantastic with 9005 LEDs, but the hids are not good, even after replacing the bulbs. Not as bad as the burb was with halogens (dangerous), but worse than burb with leds. Im going to try some LED D3S bulbs soon...
Just to follow up, I put in some D3S LEDs and they are slightly better. These projectors are just trash. The LEDs will instantly turn to full brightness giving them an edge over the stock HIDs, however I am still wanting more. I reassert that the fog LEDs are the saviors on the 18 Denali...

Replaced the thermostat housing assembly yesterday.

Noticed an immediate improvement in mileage while testing last night and during my commute today.

Thermostat helps gas mileage? Never knew.

Indirectly through the engine computer.

When the coolant never reaches full temperature then the computer continues adding extra fuel to 1) Warm up the engine sooner, and 2) To avoid running lean.

More technically I believe it is termed that the engine never reaches "closed loop" operation when the coolant temperature doesn't reach normal operating temperature.

(May also lose some efficiency by not engaging the lockup torque converter, though I'm not sure that applies here.)

EDIT: Also, it seems, due to the thermodynamic inefficiency of losing energy into cold cylinder walls that otherwise would have been captured through the expansion of the products of combustion.

Did the Seafoam top end clean follwed by an Italian tune up and oil change. The oil was so fuggin thin, like dark water. Runs good though. So glad I purchased a clean local TX truck...

Also changed the tune for the new tire size and pulled throttle response from +20 to +7. Much better now - I was launching with a toe tap before. My 5.3 needed all 20%...
What is a Italian tune-up?
