Like the title says, the trans started slipping a lot recently. When you are going around a corner at low speed for example and then hit the gas again, it will lug down in a high gear or "kick" into gear and just generally slip, shift a lot, search for gear.

Runs 195+ degrees all the time, though it is hot where I live (southwest US), it never ran that hot before. Saw 203* this weekend for the first time.

Took it to the dealer once already, they said it was a "computer issue" and "reprogrammed" the transmission. I felt no difference and it's only gotten worse.

Don't want to keep wasting time bringing it to the dealer for them to tell me nothing's wrong, what should I do? Has anyone had this issue before?

Hate to say it but the dealer, yours or another GM dealer is the right place so it’s documented.

    Which transmission do you have?

Had the same issue with my 2016 with 66,000 miles. I purchased it this past January.

I immediately noticed the shifting, which felt to me like a "slip" just exactly as you describe. I brought it back to my dealer who sent it to a Chevy dealer nearby, and they said it was fine and the shifting issue is "normal".

I guess this issue is sometimes referred to as a "flare" and is experienced by a lot of Chevy owners across the models. I hate it, it makes me nervous but hey - I did my part. If the tranny goes anytime soon I'll be knocking on my dealer's door.

The dealer uses phrases like Operating as Designed these days. It’d be great to get your hands on another one to test drive and see if it does the same thing.

Unfortunately I believe it is designed that way. You really have to stomp on the gas to down shift and when it does you feel it. I’m guessing to keep RPM low for fuel economy. My 18 Tahoe was like that until I got it tuned. Made trans shifts firm and changed out Dexron VI to AMSOIL. Now it’s smooth as can be.

Transmission has a thermostat to get it up to temperature fast for emissions, same as water temp. You can delete it. Keep the fluid clean, don't let it get past 50K especially if towing.

Does BlackBear offer a tune yet for 2019s? The best part of my tune was what they did to the transmission, shifts great all the time now.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Can anyone elaborate on the tuning or on which trans fluid you put in? I'll pay for a flush myself if it means I don't have to trade the car in, which I was seriously thinking about before it craps the bed on me.

I'm a little rusty on the latest specs, does yours have the 6-speed or 8-speed transmission? The former uses Dexron VI fluid and the latter is different.
