Ok, maybe that'll be fine. Old one was a HV that I guess quit. 2 mechanics said I had no oil pressure.View attachment 247738
You actually believe anything that mechanic said he did? He probably didn’t even change the oil pump at all. Either way it wasn’t the oil pump failing- they last forever. Probably a spun bearing. I forget if I put a high volume or high pressure Melling in mine, but I think they have guidance on the Melling website.
Edit: I just went to their website and looked at their information on high volume and high pressure oil pumps and I’m pretty sure I went with the high volume one which also supposedly increases pressure by 10 psi over stock due to the fact I had 150 k on the motor so bearing tolerances were greater than a new engine. Higher mileage engines are what the high volume pumps were designed for.

Good info.

So a HV Melling it is. What's your opinion on a chain @Rocket Man ?
I already talked to you about that- I used a Cloyes but I don’t have the exact part number. I bought the timing set- chain, cam gear and crank gear. Maybe someone else can chime in. I know it was their Hex-Adjust Tru Roller.

I'm getting it ready to leave Thursday. Swapped the rims over. Guess it needs to grow on me. Suspension needs to settle a little too.

Not sure if I should paint those gray caps black. I know--gotta replace the GMC. Tires are heavy. They're the LT's, kevlar. Same size as before, 265/70-17.

I really like your theme on the truck. Now I don't remember the rpo code for the police package nowadays but looks like the old 9C1! :D
Steel rims do look killer. :)

Forgot to order some motor mounts. Figured I'd better. Got some AC Delcos.View attachment 247898
Anyone know if the 07-11 mounts work on the nbs? Just curious.
What’s left to order?

edit: no the nnbs motor mounts don’t work for the NBS and you don’t want that trouble anyway. The NBS mounts never fail.

Love the cop steelies!
Thx guys. I'll probably just leave them on til I find something that I like more.

Thx Mark, I was just curious. I figured I should order them--just in case. You never know. I just need the knock sensors, spark plugs--pretty sure he has the gaskets. He usually gets Fel pros. Waiting on what the cam is gonna look like--but I'm pretty sure he's gonna say it's no good. Also got some header bolts.

Oh yeah, I would definitely put new mounts in, I was just saying the NNBS mounts are a bad (fluid-filled) design and fail all the time while the NBS ones are a solid mount that’s ...solid. With no issues.
